Let us honor the Cross of the Lord with solemn praise. * Let us sing hymns extolling His holy burial. * Let us highly glorify His resurrection from the dead. * For, being God, He raised the dead from the graves with himself. * He shined light on those in Hades, annihilating the power of death and the devil’s might. [GOASD]

Glory.

Lord, You who deadened death were described as being dead. You who emptied tombs had been buried in a tomb. Above, soldiers guarded the sepulcher; below, You resurrected the dead of all ages. Lord almighty and incomprehensible, glory to You! [GOASD]

After You had risen on the third day, O Lord, and the Apostles had worshiped You, Peter said to You, “The women were courageous, but I was afraid. The robber stated Your divinity, but I denied knowing You. Will You ever call me Your disciple again, or will you send me back to be a fisher of the sea? I pray You to receive me in repentance, O God, and save me.” [GOASD]

Glory.

The villains had You crucified between the convicts. And they pierced Your side with a spear, O merciful Master. You accepted burial. You destroyed the gates of Hades, and You rose on the third day. The Women ran to see You, and they announced Your resurrection to the Apostles. Supremely exalted Savior, whom the Angels extol, O blessed Lord, glory to You! [GOASD]

Bride unwedded and Mother of God, you are the one * who turned Eve’s pain and sorrow into exultant joy. * We the faithful sing your praises and we honor you; * for you have lifted us up from the ancient curse. * All-lauded, all-holy Virgin, * never cease interceding with your Son and God to save our souls. Resurrectional Evlogetaria.

Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.

When the hosts of the Angels saw how You were accounted among the dead, they all marveled. You, O Savior, are the One who destroyed the might of death; and when You arose You raised Adam with yourself and from Hades liberated everyone. [SD]

Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.

“Why do you mingle the ointments with your tears full of pity, O women disciples?” Thus the Angel who was shining in the tomb cried to the myrrh-bearing women. “See for yourselves the empty tomb and understand, that the Savior has risen from the sepulcher.”

Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.

Very early in the morning, the myrrh-bearing women were hastening to Your tomb lamenting. But the Angel appeared to them and uttered, “The time for lamentation has ended; weep no more. Go announce the Resurrection to the Apostles.”

Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.

When the myrrh-bearing women had come with their spices to Your sepulcher, O Savior, they heard the voice of an Angel clearly speaking to them, “Why do you account among the dead the One who lives? For as God, He has risen from the sepulcher.”

We bow down in worship to the Father and His Son and the Holy Spirit, the Holy Trinity, one in essence; and we cry aloud with the Seraphim: Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O Lord.

Giving birth to the Giver of life, O Virgin, you delivered Adam from sin, and to Eve you have rendered joy in place of sorrow. He who from you became incarnate, God and man, has directed to life him who fell from it.

Having beheld the Resurrection of Christ, let us worship the holy Lord Jesus, the only sinless one. Your Cross, O Christ, we venerate, and Your holy Resurrection we praise and glorify. Saints of God, intercede for us.

Let us come and faithfully venerate those seven gleaming precious stones. They blaze upon the Church of Christ with a light greater than the seven-branched lampstand of the Law. [un]

The Seven Youths had previously lived in Christ through the mortification of the flesh. They later confirmed the doctrine of the Resurrection by arising as though they had wondrously slept and not died. [un]

At the sound of seven trumpets Jericho fell. And now the elation of error has descended to Hades and is totally destroyed at the faith of the prizewinners of seven voices. [un]

O unwedded Bride, you have inaugurated a new kind of birth. For the Logos received a body from you without suffering change or intermingling. In the Holy Spirit is He eternal and without beginning with the Father. [un]

Saints of God, intercede for us.

O prizewinners, as seven unerring stars shining with faith, you guided them that were perishing on the sea of error to the harbor of salvation. [un]

O Saints, you stood fearlessly before the tyrant’s judgment seat like the Maccabees in ancient times. You traded temporary glory for warfare as soldiers of Christ. [un]

Glory.

O holy Youths, you shone forth as a worthy sacrifice of prayer to Christ, and as an odor of the sweetest fragrance. You firmly repelled the foul stench of delusion. [un]

O Virgin, the bush upon Sinai prefigured the uniqueness of your childbirth. You were not burned when you faithfully received the fire of the Godhead in your womb. [un]

Ὁ ὑψωθεὶς ἐν τῷ Σταυρῷ.

Let all the faithful venerate the Seven Youths with songs of praise on this day while we exalt Christ. For they that rejected all the things of the world as corrupted found the gifts that nothing can corrupt. Corruption did not touch them when they died. Thus after many years they again awoke and buried all the unbelief of the malicious. [un]

O all-honorable Lady, who is forgiveness for sinners and the salvation and help of faithful souls, although I love sin, I beg you, who gave birth to the sinless God and Creator who takes away the sins` of the world. Have compassion on my soul which is full of iniquity and unrighteousness. Blot out all my many sins. [un]

Habakkuk as a prophet considered Your divine self-emptying, O Christ, and in astonishment said to You, * “For the salvation of Your people You have come, to save Your anointed ones.” [SD]

Glory to Your holy Resurrection, O Lord.

A type of Your immaculate Cross is seen, * when in the desert Moses made the bitter waters of Marah sweet * using a tree, O good Savior: * the tree is Your Cross that kills the taste of death. [SD]

To remedy the failures in Paradise, * the tree of knowledge and the sweet forbidden fruit and destructive death, * O Lord, for us You accepted * the Cross and bitter gall, and You spilled Your blood. [SD]

O Lady, as a virgin remaining chaste * you still conceived within your womb, and you gave birth without laboring. * Giving birth to God incarnate, * after childbirth you remained a virgin still. [SD]

Let us praise the Seven honorable Youths, who are a righteous company honored with the number seven. [un]

The Youths of Ephesus showed the impious and delusional king to be senseless when he contrived empty machinations. [un]

O holy Youths, you truly became all-spotless victims and sacrifices to the Lord by your faithfulness. [un]

O blessed and immaculate Virgin, do not disdain to constantly intercede on our behalf, so that we may be saved from every distress. [un]

Christ, the Lord of glory, who assumed inglorious form, * is voluntarily stripped of honor * and unjustly crucified, thus for me procuring * glory divine ineffably. [SD]
