Ἡ Παρθένος σήμερον.

The most joyous festival * of the Apostle is upon us. * Therefore let us merrily with joy today celebrate it. * For he gives, to those who faithfully extol him * every year, freedom from sins and divine strength. * As a mystic of divine grace of Christ the Savior, he prays with confidence. [SD]

Oikos.

Today, let us all extol the Disciple of Christ. Let us honor that eye-witness of the Word. For he proclaimed the all-holy Gospel to the world. He threw his net into the sea of deception and drew up the Gentiles. He pointed out the way of truth, and by it he elevates believers to the heavenly homeland. Now standing aglow near the throne of God, he gives abundant illumination to those who enthusiastically honor him. As a mystic of divine grace of Christ the Savior, he prays with confidence. [SD]

On this day we also commemorate the holy Martyr Bassa and her children: Theognis, Agapius, and Pistus.
