Amen. Lord, have mercy. (12)

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Both now and ever and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Come, let us worship and bow down before God our King.

Come, let us worship and bow down before Christ God our King.

Come, let us worship and bow down before Him, Christ our King and God.

Psalm 50 (51).

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression. Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me. Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice. Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your guiding Spirit. I will teach transgressors Your ways, and the ungodly shall turn back to You. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall greatly rejoice in Your righteousness. O Lord, You shall open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise. For if You desired sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with whole burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken and humbled heart God will not despise. Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built; then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings; then shall they offer young bulls on Your altar. [SAAS]

If the Lity was not sung at Vespers, sing the following:

Mode 2.

O Good One who sanctified the entire world with Your light, You were transfigured on a high mountain; and to Your Disciples You showed Your power, that You deliver the world from transgression. Therefore we cry out to You: O compassionate Lord, save our souls! [SD]

Mode 2.

On Mount Tabor, You were transfigured in glory, O Christ our God, and to Your Apostles You revealed the glory of Your divinity. We pray You, shine on us also, with the light of true knowledge of You, and guide us on the path of Your commandments, for only You are good and love humanity. [SD]

Mode 2.

Christ, the light that shined before the sun, like the sun moved over the earth in His body; and, before His Crucifixion, He executed His awesome plan for salvation in a manner fitting His divine majesty. And so, today on Mt. Tabor, He mystically reveals the image of the Trinity. He took His three select Disciples, Peter, James and John, and led them up with himself. And then He briefly concealed the flesh that He had assumed, and He was transfigured before them. In so doing, He showed them the majesty of His original beauty, although not completely, but just enough to inform them, as much as their physical eyes could bear, and still spare them, lest the full vision cause them to lose their life. Then He brought in the pinnacles of the Prophets, Moses and Elijah; and each in his own way testified that He is God, and that He is the true radiance of the Father’s essence, and that He is Lord of both the living and the dead. Then a cloud, like a tent, overshadowed them, and the voice of the Father on high came from the cloud, and audibly bore witness and said, “This is the One whom I begot without changing from the womb before the morning star, my beloved Son, whom I sent to save those who are baptized in the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit and who with faith confess that undivided is the one dominion of the Godhead. Listen to Him.” O humane Savior, Christ our God, we pray You to illumine us as well, with the light of Your unapproachable glory, and show us to be worthy recipients of your kingdom that has no end. [SD]

Glory.

Mode pl. 1.

Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of our God, and we shall behold the glory of His Transfiguration, glory as of the only Son from the Father. By light let us receive light, and when we are uplifted by the Spirit, let us sing hymns to the consubstantial Trinity to the ages. [SD]

Both now.

Moses, the seer of God, and Elias, the fiery charioteer who races unburnt across the heavens, saw You in the cloud at Your Transfiguration, O Christ; and they bore witness that You are the Author and Fulfiller of the Law and the Prophets. We pray You, O Master, count us worthy, like them, to receive Your illumination, and to sing Your praises to the ages. [SD]

You were transfigured upon the mountain, O Christ our God, showing to Your disciples Your glory as much as they could bear. Do also in us, sinners though we may be, shine Your everlasting light, by the intercessions of the Theotokos, O Giver of light. Glory to You. [SD]

Lord, have mercy. (40)

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Both now and ever and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Greater in honor than the Cherubim, and in glory greater beyond compare than the Seraphim; you without corruption gave birth to God the Word, and are truly Theotokos. You do we magnify.

In the name of the Lord, Father, bless!

Let us pray for the peace of the world.
