Μνήμη Δικαίου μέτʼ ἐγκωμίων, σοὶ δὲ ἀρκέσει ἡ μαρτυρία τοῦ Κυρίου Πρόδρομε· ἀνεδείχθης γὰρ ὄντως καὶ Προφητῶν σεβασμιώτερος, ὅτι καὶ ἐν ῥείθροις βαπτίσαι κατηξιώθης τὸν κηρυττόμενον. Ὅθεν τῆς ἀληθείας ὑπεραθλήσας, χαίρων εὐηγγελίσω καὶ τοῖς ἐν ᾍδῃ, Θεὸν φανερωθέντα ἐν σαρκί, τὸν αἴροντα τὴν ἁμαρτίαν τοῦ κόσμου, καὶ παρέχοντα ἡμῖν τὸ μέγα ἔλεος.	The memory of the just is observed with hymns of praise; for you suffices the testimony of the Lord, O Forerunner. You have proved to be truly more ven’rable than the Prophets, since you were granted to baptize in the river the One whom they proclaimed. Therefore, when for the truth you had contested, rejoicing, to those in Hades you preached the Gospel, that God was manifested in the flesh, and takes away the sin of the world, and grants to us the great mercy. We have become partakers of divine nature through you, O ever-virgin Maid, since for us you gave birth unto God become incarnate. Therefore we all dutifully magnify you piously. [SD]

Remembering our all-holy, immaculate, most blessed, and glorious Lady, the Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary, with all the saints, let us commend ourselves and one another and our whole life to Christ our God.

O my soul, consider the trial on that terrifying day, and shudder at the sentence of eternal punishment. And now in repentance shed tears and cry out, “O God, I have sinned. Εὐσπλαγχνίας τὴν ἄφθονον πηγήν, Ἰορδάνου κατέδυσας ῥοαῖς Ἰωάννη· ὅθεν ἐκτενῶς καθικετεύω σε, πάθεσι πολλοῖς καταποντούμενον, πελάγει με τοῦ βίου, καθʼ ἑκάστην χαλεπῶς, εὐπροσδέκτοις σου εὐχαῖς, ζωῆς πρὸς λιμένα χειραγώγησον.	In the streams of the Jordan you immersed * the plentiful fountain of mercy, O John the Baptist. * Now I am mercilessly drowned each day * by the many passions in the sea of life. * I earnestly implore you to intercede for me. * Lead me to the port of life, * by your prayers to God, which He accepts from you. You make Your holy martyrs shinier than gold, and You glorify Your devout ascetics, since You are good. Τίς εἶδε, τίς ἤκουσε Μητέρα τίκτουσαν τὸν ἑαυτῆς Δημιουργόν; ἀπειράνδρως θηλάζουσαν τὸν διδόντα τροφὴν πάσῃ σαρκί; ὢ τοῦ θαύματος! θρόνος χερουβικὸς ἐδείχθη ἡ γαστήρ σου, Θεοτόκε κεχαριτωμένη· πρέσβευε ὑπὲρ τῶν ψυχῶν ἡμῶν.	Who has ever seen or heard before that a mother gave birth to her Creator, or that a virgin could nurse a child, who is the One who gives food to all flesh? We marvel at this miracle. O Prophet of God and Forerunner of grace divine, since we have obtained your Head from beneath the earth, as if a most sacred rose, we are receiving the healings continually. Τῇ ΙϚʹ τοῦ αὐτοῦ μηνός, μνήμη τοῦ Ἁγίου Ἱερομάρτυρος Ἀθηνογένους, Ἐπισκόπου Πηδαχθήσης (ἢ Πηδαχθόης).	On July 16, we commemorate the holy Hieromartyr Athenogenes, Bishop of Pidachthoa.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ, μνήμη τοῦ Ἁγίου Μάρτυρος Φαύστου.	On this day we also commemorate the holy Martyr Faustus.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ, μνήμη τοῦ Ἁγίου Μάρτυρος Ἀντιόχου, ἀδελφοῦ τοῦ Ἁγίου Μάρτυρος Πλάτωνος.	On this day we also commemorate the holy Martyr Antiochus, brother of the holy Martyr Plato.
Οἱ Ἅγιοι δεκαπεντακισχίλιοι Μάρτυρες, οἱ ἐν Πισιδίᾳ, ξίφει τελειοῦνται.	The holy 15,000 Martyrs in Pisidia died by the sword.
