Your amazing way of life consisted of unceasing prayer, * unrelenting violence on your human nature’s bounds, * patience in trials, and gratitude in all things. * For within your heart you had a wonderful * integrity and love for honor burning like fire, * which emanated from immense and ardent * grateful love for the Lord and Master, * for whom you longingly desired to die each day, * O godly-minded Father. Come, O believers, and inspired by God let us partake from the table of Paisios. Behold, our father Paisios the New, whose manners were the same as his namesake of old, invites us to a spiritual banquet. And seeing our protector as if he were present, let us now entreat him: “O devout Father, intercede with Christ our God, for the salvation of our souls.” [SD]

On July 12, we commemorate our devout father Paisios the New of the Holy Mountain Athos, who reposed in peace in the year 1994.

Verses

Paisios lived alone for God alone;

But he lightened the pain of many who were troubled.

For being united to God through love,

He received the grace to comfort all.

On the twelfth, Paisios saw the never-setting light.

On this day we also commemorate the holy Martyrs Proclus and Hilary.

On this day we also commemorate our devout Father Michael Maleinus, the spiritual father of St. Athansius of Athos.

On this day we also commemorate the holy Martyr Serapion; and the holy Martyrs Andrew the Commander, Heraclius, Faustus, Menas, and their company; and the holy Martyr Mamas, over in Sigma.

St. Veronica, the woman with the flow of blood whom Christ cured, reposed in peace.

O devout Father, when you found the pearl of great value, namely Christ God, you joyfully gave away everything, and you strove to the point of death, so that you might gain Him alone. Because of your immense longing, you obtained Him, and thus were made exceedingly rich with wealth that transcends the world. You guarded this with a watchful heart in the safe of stillness, and you distributed it in your noble love, and you enriched the world with your deeds, your words, and your great miracles. And now, O Paisios whom God has glorified, as you enjoy the good things that God has prepared for those who love Him, intercede on our behalf, so that we make good transactions in this life, and trade in earthly goods to obtain the heavenly blessings. Glory be to You who showed the light. Glory in the highest to God. His peace is on earth, His good pleasure in mankind. [SD]

We praise You, we bless You, we worship You, we glorify You, we give thanks to You for Your great glory.

Lord King, heavenly God, Father, Ruler over all; Lord, only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ; and You, O Holy Spirit.

Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, who take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us, You who take away the sins of the world.
