Let us honor the Cross of the Lord with solemn praise. * Let us sing hymns extolling His holy burial. * Let us highly glorify His resurrection from the dead. * For, being God, He raised the dead from the graves with himself. * He shined light on those in Hades, annihilating the power of death and the devil’s might. For compunction.

Verse: O Lord, do not rebuke me in Your wrath, nor chasten me in Your anger. [SAAS]

Let us all be vigilant, and go out to meet Christ, with a good supply of oil and lamps burning bright, so that we be granted entry to the bridal hall. He who ended up outside the door, to no avail cried out, “Have mercy on me!” [SD]

Lord, Your medal-winning martyrs longed to drink the cup of Your Passion. So they forsook the delights of this life, and they became partners with the Angels. At their supplications, grant to our souls forgiveness of sins and the great mercy. [SD]

On June 10 we commemorate the contest of the Holy Martyrs Alexander and Antonina.

On this day we commemorate the Holy Hieromartyr Timothy, Bishop of Proussa.

On this day we also commemorate the devout Theophanes and Pansemne of Antioch.

On this day we commemorate the devout Bishop Apollo.

The Holy Alexios, Bishop of Bethany, reposed in peace.

Both of these miracles were confirmed to the prophets who inquired and revealed to them, who by faith revered the mystery. Which we now extol; and we pray You restore to us the joy and the great mercy. [GOASD]

Blessed is the army of the King of heaven. Even though they were but human, the medaled Martyrs strove to attain angelic rank, by disregarding their bodies. Through suffering, they were granted the honor of the bodiless hosts. By their prayers, O Lord, send down to us Your great mercy. [SD]

But his kinsmen said to him, “Who is it that opened your eyes, which no one who sees was able to heal?” And he proclaimed and said to them, “A man called Jesus, He told me to wash in Siloam, and I received my sight. Aposticha. For the Blindman.

Mode pl. 1. N/M (Devout and God-bearing father.)

The Blindman became blindness for those who thought they saw. For when they observed that he regained his sight so late in life, it darkened their hearts, their souls, and their minds. They summoned him and harshly interrogated him. “How do you now see, like one of us who see the light? You were born blind, and you sat on the sidewalk and begged.” Then he pointed out the One who gave him his sight, the One who fashioned lights in the world. He is One who is therefore proclaimed to be God’s pre-eternal Son, who for mercy’s sake in latter days became incarnate of the Virgin and the Holy Spirit. [SD]

Verse: Look upon me and have mercy on me. [SAAS]

When the Blindman walked, possessing a cane in place of vision, and stubbing his toes in the public square, it appeared to those in the world to be such a heavy load and burden. So he turned to Giver of light, and from Him he received his sense of vision, and with his very own eyes he saw his Maker, who of old fashioned human nature from earth in His image and likeness, and who now with soil and saliva gave sight to his eyes, and benevolently granted him to see the sun. [SD]

Verse: Direct my steps according to Your teaching. [SAAS]

When the Blindman saw the light, he saw the Father’s Logos, conformed to human nature, who granted him to see the shining sun that rules the day, just like other people do. He rejoiced at his newfound vision, because of which he was seen to walk straight, and to take the paths without stumbling. He also recognized God’s Son, who had given him his sight, and who in His extreme compassion became man, remaining what He was, God become human, taking on what He was not, and preserving His oneness without confusion. [SD]

O Lord, as You passed by on the road, You found a man who was blind from birth. Your Disciples wondered and they asked You, “Teacher, who was it that sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” And You, my Savior, said to them, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. I must work the works of Him who sent Me, which no one can work.” When you had said these things, You spat on the ground and made clay; and You anointed his eyes, and said to him, “Go, wash in the Pool of Siloam.” So he went and washed and became well, and he cried out to You: “Lord, I believe!” And he worshipped You.
