On June 7 we commemorate the holy Hieromartyr Theodotos of Ankyra.

On this day we also commemorate the Holy Martyr Zinaida (Zenais) the wonderworker.

On this day we also commemorate the Holy women, Aesia and Sosanna, followers of St. Pangratios, Bishop of Taormina. The services in their honor used to be conducted in their shrine in Basiliskos.

On this day we also commemorate the Holy Martyr Lykarion.

On this day, the Holy Martyrs Tarasios and John died by the sword.

On this day, the devout Stephen reposed in peace.

On this day, the devout Anthimos reposed in peace.

On this day, the Holy Sevastiani reposed in peace.

The Well of life’s source, Jesus our Savior, came to the well of Jacob the Patriarch, and He asked a Samaritan woman for a drink of water. When she objected that a Jew would have no dealings with her, the wise Creator diverts her attention with His sweet words, and gets her to ask instead for the eternal water. When she had received it, she proclaimed it to all, saying, “Come and see the Knower of things hidden; He is God, and He has come in the flesh to save humanity.” [SD]

Having come with her water jar * to the well, the Samaritan * woman left it empty of water, and she went * into the city and cried aloud * to all that she had indeed * found the effervescent source * that abundantly gushes forth everlasting life. * Hence she drank of this water of salvation, and her heart, which from the passions * was parched and dry, was refreshed indeed. [SD]

Verse: Stretch Your bow, and grant prosperity, and reign, because of truth and goodness. [SAAS]

“You are right when you say that you * have no husband, for you have had * five before, and he whom you now live with is not * your lawful husband,” the Savior said * to the woman who had come * from Samaria to draw * from the well. And she left her jar, * and she went away * to the city and said to all the people, * “I have seen a man who told me * all that I ever did privately.” [SD]

The Samaritan woman who * was accustomed to drawing up * perishable and earthly water from the well * found there instead the celestial well, a different life-giving stream, * and she drew from it and drank, * and this other water became in her heart a spring * that was new, for it welled up to eternal life and gave her heart refreshment * from all the passions’ oppressive heat.
