Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, You are magnified exceedingly; You clothe Yourself with thanksgiving and majesty, who cover Yourself with light as with a garment, who stretch out the heavens like a curtain; You are He who covers His upper chambers with water, who makes the clouds His means of approach, who walks on the wings of the winds, who makes His angels spirits and His ministers a flame of fire. He established the earth on its stable foundation; it shall not be moved unto ages of ages. Mode 4. When you were called.

Ὁ ἐξ ὑψίστου κληθείς.

If You, O Lord, should mark transgression, O Lord, who would stand? For there is forgiveness with You. [SAAS]

When Christ had come to the well, He found the woman * of Samaria and asked her for water to drink. * He really thirsted for her correction and salvation, * which was accomplished by what He said and did. * She had come to draw a drink of water, but instead * He drew her in and gave her the drink of living water. * She went and said to her fellow citizens, * “Behold, Messiah Christ, of whom the Law * spoke of old! He has come and appeared as man. * He uncovered my secrets * and disclosed my every hidden thought.” [SD]

Because of Your law, O Lord, I waited for You; my soul waited for Your word. My soul hopes in the Lord. [SAAS]

Said the Samaritan woman to the people * in the city, “Come and see the one, of whom of old * the Law has written, that He would come, Christ the Messiah. * He is a great Prophet. He is God and man. * He explained to me what I have done throughout my life. * He knew the thoughts that were deep within my heart and hidden * He told me everything I have ever done.” * Then all the people of the city came, * and they saw that her words were completely true; * and they marveled, believing * for themselves by what they heard and saw. Blessed St. Hilarion, your life was blameless and virtuous. * You had patience and gentleness * and genuine love for all, self-control in all things. * You kept all-night vigils; you had compunction in your soul; * and you had fatherly sympathy for all. * With ardent faith and mighty hope, you led your bodily life on earth * like an angel. Now we have you * interceding on our behalf. [GOASD]

Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles; praise Him, all you peoples. [SAAS]

You were like an angel living on the earth, and man who lived * in the heavens, O blessed Saint, * a river of sympathy, a spring of compunction, * an ocean of wonders. The Well of wonders came to the well, to salvage the daughter of Eve. It was about the sixth hour, the same time of day that Eve had exited Paradise, beguiled by the serpent. So the woman of Samaria came to draw water. Seeing her, the Savior said to her, “Give me a drink of water, and I will fill you with water welling up to eternal life.” Then that wise woman ran back to the city, and she said to the people at once, “Come and see Christ the Lord, the Savior of our souls!” [SD]

You blasted the gates of Hades, and You toppled the regime of death, by Your death, O Master. You freed the human race from disintegration, for to the world You granted life, freedom from decay, and the great mercy. [GOASD]

Verse: Their proclamation went forth into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world. [SAAS]

With the Holy Spirit, O Christ, did You enlighten the choir of Apostles. Through them wash away the filth of our sins, and have mercy on us, O God. [SD]
