God is the Lord, and He revealed Himself to us. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. [SAAS]

Verse 1: Give thanks to the Lord and call upon His holy name.

Verse 2: All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I defended myself against them.

Verse 3: And this came about from the Lord, and it is wonderful in our eyes.

From Octoechos - - -

Resurrectional Apolytikion.

Mode 3.

Let the heavens be glad. Let the earth rejoice exceedingly. For the Lord has shown strength with his arm. He trampled death by death. He became the first-born of the dead. Out of the belly of Hades, He has rescued us, and to the world He has granted the great mercy. [GOASD]

Glory. Both now. Theotokion.

From Octoechos - - -

Mode 3.

Virgin Theotokos, we sing hymns extolling you, through whom came humanity’s salvation. For your Son and our God, who is benevolent, accepted the Passion and the crucifixion, in the flesh that He assumed from you, and thus from destruction He rescued us. [GOASD]

PRIEST

Again and again in peace let us pray to the Lord.

CHOIR: Lord, have mercy.

PRIEST

Help us, save us, have mercy on us, and protect us, O God, by Your grace.

CHOIR: Lord, have mercy.

Remembering our all-holy, immaculate, most blessed, and glorious Lady, the Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary, with all the saints, let us commend ourselves and one another and our whole life to Christ our God.

CHOIR: To You, O Lord.

PRIEST

For Yours is the dominion, and Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and to the ages of ages.

CHOIR: Amen.

CHOIR

Kathisma I.

From Pentecostarion - - -

Resurrectional.

Mode 3.

Christ has been raised from the dead; He is the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. As the first-born of all creation and maker of all things that were made, in himself He renewed our human nature that had been ravaged. O Death, you no longer have dominion, for the Master of all has destroyed your power. [GOASD]

For compunction.

Verse: O Lord, do not rebuke me in Your wrath, nor chasten me in Your anger. [SAAS]

Mode 3.

O my soul, repent while you still sojourn on earth, for dust in the grave does not sing praise, nor is it released from transgressions. Cry out now to Christ God, “Knower of the heart, I have sinned. Before You condemn me, spare me, O God, and have mercy on me.” [SD]

For the Martyrs.

Verse: God is wondrous in His saints. [SAAS]

Mode 3.

Your wholehearted endurance vanquished the machinations of the enemy and author of evil, O all-lauded medal-winners. That is why you have been counted worthy of eternal blessedness. We entreat you to intercede with the Lord, that He save the flock of Christ-loving people, for You, O Martyrs, are witnesses of the truth. [SD]

Glory. Both now. Theotokion.

Mode 3. Automelon.

Τὴν ὡραιότητα.

You were so beautiful in your virginity. * Archangel Gabriel admired your purity, * which was resplendent; and amazed, he said to you, Theotokos, * “As there are no accolades that can worthily honor you, * I am at a loss for words to address you, so awed am I. * But I will say what I was commanded: * Rejoice, O favored Maiden full of grace!” [GOASD]

Kathisma II.

From Pentecostarion - - -

Mode 3. You were so beautiful.

Τὴν ὡραιότητα.

They whom paralysis of envy choked and held * got for themselves a full-body paralysis; * for when they saw how You had healed the Paralytic on the Sabbath, * they said, “It is not allowed on the Sabbath to heal a man, * for this breaks the Sabbath rest that the fathers handed down to us,” * not recognizing You to be the Master * of the Law and the healer of our souls. [SD]

Glory. Both now. Repeat.

[SD]

READER

Having beheld the Resurrection of Christ, let us worship the holy Lord Jesus, the only sinless one. Your Cross, O Christ, we venerate, and Your holy Resurrection we praise and glorify. For You are our God; apart from You we know no other; we call upon Your name. Come, all faithful, let us venerate the holy Resurrection of Christ; for behold, through the Cross, joy has come to the whole world. Ever blessing the Lord, let us praise His Resurrection; for having endured the Cross for us, He destroyed death by death. [GOA]

Psalm 50 (51).

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression. Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me. Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice. Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your guiding Spirit. I will teach transgressors Your ways, and the ungodly shall turn back to You. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall greatly rejoice in Your righteousness. O Lord, You shall open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise. For if You desired sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with whole burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken and humbled heart God will not despise. Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built; then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings; then shall they offer young bulls on Your altar. [SAAS]

Kontakion. For the Paralytic.

Mode 3. On this day.

Ἡ Παρθένος σήμερον.

I have sinned in every way, * I have improperly acted; * therefore with paralysis * my soul is woefully stricken. * Raise it up, O Lord, through Your own divine attention, * even as of old You raised up the paralytic, * so that saved I may cry, Glory to Your dominion, O my compassionate Christ. Praise Him, sun and moon; praise Him, all you stars and light.

Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, and you waters above the heavens. Let them praise the Lord’s name.

For He spoke, and they were made; He commanded, and they were created.

He established them forever and unto ages of ages; He set forth His ordinance, and it shall not pass away.

Praise the Lord from the earth, you dragons and all the deeps.

Fire and hail, snow and ice, stormy wind, which perform His word.

Mountains and all the hills, fruitful trees and all cedars.

Wild animals and all cattle, creeping things and flying birds.

Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all judges of the earth.

Young men and maidens, elders with younger, let them praise the Lord’s name, for His name alone is exalted.

His thanksgiving is in earth and heaven. And He shall exalt the horn of His people.

A hymn for all His saints, for the children of Israel, a people who draw near to Him.

Sing to the Lord a new song, His praise in the assembly of His holy ones.

Let Israel be glad in Him who made him, and let the children of Zion greatly rejoice in their King.

Let them praise His name with dance; with tambourine and harp let them sing to Him.

For the Lord is pleased with His people, and He shall exalt the gentle with salvation.

The holy ones shall boast in glory, and they shall greatly rejoice on their beds.

The high praise of God shall be in their mouth and a two-edged sword in their hand.

To deal retribution to the nations, reproving among the peoples.

To shackle their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron.

To fulfill among them the written judgment: this glory have all His holy ones.

Praise God in His saints; praise Him in the firmament of His power.

Glory. Both now. For the Paralytic.

From Pentecostarion - - -

Mode 1.

The Paralytic was like a dead man who had not been buried. When he saw You he cried aloud, “Have mercy on me, O Lord; for my bed has become a tomb for me. What gain is there for me to live? I have no use for the Sheep Pool, since I have no one who will put me in when the waters are troubled. But I come to You, the source of cures, so that with everyone else I too may cry out, ‘O almighty Lord, glory to You.’” [SD]

Verse: O Lord, I will sing of Your mercies forever. [SAAS]

When they who kept the Sabbath saw the Paralytic cured * on the day of the Sabbath, * their souls became conceited; * and they shouted, “It is not permitted on the Sabbath * to heal, for this would desecrate the Sabbath.” So the Scribes * said, as if they were lawful. [SD]

Verse: For You said, “Mercy shall be built up forever.” [SAAS]

The Scribes who kept the Sabbath failed to know that You were Lord * and Maker of the Sabbaths. * They grumbled that the healing * of the Paralytic was performed on the Sabbath. * They said that it was not right for one to carry his bed * on the day of the Sabbath. [SD]

Mode pl. 1.

Jesus went up to Jerusalem, to the pool by the Sheep Gate, which was called Bethesda by the Jews. It had five porticoes, and in these there lay a multitude of the sick. For at certain seasons, an Angel of God would go down into the pool and stir it up, and then good health would be granted to those who approached with faith. Now the Lord saw a man who had been sick for many years, and He said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” And the sick man replied, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up. I have spent all my livelihood on physicians, and no mercy has been afforded me.” Then the Physician of souls and bodies said to him, “Take up your bed and walk. Proclaim my power and great mercy to the ends of the earth.” [SD]
