When he took down Your immaculate Body from the Cross, the honorable Joseph wrapped it in a clean linen shroud with spices and laid it for burial in a new tomb. Ὑπομονῆς στῦλος γέγονας, ζηλώσας τοὺς προπάτορας Ὅσιε, τὸν Ἰὼβ ἐν τοῖς πάθεσι, τὸν Ἰωσὴφ ἐν τοῖς πειρασμοῖς, καὶ τὴν τῶν Ἀσωμάτων πολιτείαν, ὑπάρχων ἐν σώματι, Συμεὼν Πατὴρ ἡμῶν Ὅσιε, πρέσβευε Χριστῷ τῷ Θεῷ, σωθῆναι τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμῶν.	You became a pillar of patience, O devout one, emulating the forefathers, Job in his sufferings and Joseph in his temptations, and the manner of the bodiless, though you were still in body. The Angel who had come to the sepulcher said to the Myrrh-bearing women, “Ointments are appropriate for mortal men; but Christ is indeed a stranger to decay. Τὸν λίθον τοῦ μνήματος, σφραγισθῆναι μὴ κωλύσας, τὴν πέτραν τῆς πίστεως, ἀναστὰς παρέσχες πᾶσι. Κύριε δόξα σοι.	Not preventing the sealing of the stone of the tomb, with Your rising You gave to all the rock of the faith. Glory to You, O Lord. [GOASD]

Ὅτε τοῖς ἄθλοις ἠγωνίσαντο τοῦ Κυρίου οἱ Μάρτυρες, τότε τὸ θράσος ἠμαύρωται τῶν ἀσεβῶν διὰ πίστεως· ὅτε δὲ τὴν πλάνην τῶν εἰδώλων ἐνθέως κατήργησαν, τότε τοὺς στεφάνους τῆς νίκης ἐδέξαντο ἄνωθεν, καὶ πρεσβεύουσιν ὑπὲρ τῶν ψυχῶν ἡμῶν.	When the Martyrs of the Lord competed in the contests, then through their faith the audacity of the ungodly was dimmed. Also, when inspired by God they brought an end to the error of idolatry, then they received the crowns of victory from on high. And now they intercede on behalf of our souls. [SD]

Ἡ Παρθένος καὶ Μήτηρ σου Χριστέ, ἐπὶ ξύλου ὁρῶσά σε νεκρὸν ἡπλωμένον, κλαίουσα πικρῶς, Υἱέ μου ἔλεγε· τί τὸ φοβερὸν τοῦτο μυστήριον, ὁ πᾶσι δωρούμενος ζωήν τὴν αἰώνιον, ἑκουσίως ἐν Σταυρῷ πῶς θνῄσκεις, θάνατον ἐπονείδιστον;	O Christ, Your virgin Mother saw You stretched out on the Cross, and she cried bitterly and said, “O my Son, what is this awful mystery? You who give life eternal to all, how is it that You voluntarily die a painful death on a cross?” [SD]

You longed for the things of the Spirit, holy one, ⁄ turning away from those of the world. ⁄ You built a tower in which you lived as in another heaven, ⁄ shining with the splendor of miracles, Simeon. ⁄⁄ Now you ever pray to Christ God for the salvation of our souls! Τῇ ΚΔʹ τοῦ αὐτοῦ μηνὸς μνήμη τοῦ ὁσίου Πατρὸς Συμεὼν τοῦ ἐν τῷ Θαυμαστῷ Ὄρει.	On May 24 we commemorate our devout Father Symeon of Wonder Mountain.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ μνήμη τῶν ἁγίων μαρτύρων Μελετίου τοῦ σταρτηλάτου καὶ τῶν σὺν αὐτῷ Ἰωἀννου, Στεφάνου, Σεραπίωνος τοῦ Αἰγυπτίου, Καλλινίκου τοῦ μάγου, Κοιμήτων καὶ Τριβούνων δώδεκα, γυναικῶν τριῶν, Μαρκιανῆς, Παλλαδίας καὶ Σωσάννης, νηπίων δύο, Κυριακοῦ καὶ Χριστιανοῦ, καὶ τῶν σὺν αὐτοῖς μαρτυρησάντων χιλιάδων ἕνδεκα καὶ διακοσίων ὀκτώ. Τελεῖται δὲ ἡ σύναξις πάντων τούτων εἰς τὸν ναὸν τοῦ Ἁγίου Μάρτυρος Πλάτωνος, τὸν εὑρισκόμενος εἰς τὰ προαύλια τὰ ὀνομαζόμενα τοῦ Δομνίου.	On this day we also commemorate the holy Martyrs Meletios the Commander and those with him: John, Stephen, Serapion the Egyptian, Callinicus the Magus, and twelve Counts and Tribunes: Faustus, Festus, Marcellus, Theodore, Meletius, Sergius, Marcellinus, Felix, Photinus, Theodoriscus, Mercurius, and Didymus; three women: Marciana, Palladia, and Susanna; two infants: Kyriacus and Christian; and another 11,208 who witnessed with them. The service in their honor is celebrated in the Temple of the holy Martyr Plato, found in the vestibule called Domninus, in Constantinople.

Αἰνοῦμεν, εὐλογοῦμεν καὶ προσκυνοῦμεν τὸν Κύριον.	We praise and we bless and we worship the Lord.
Ἑπταπλασίως κάμινον, τῶν Χαλδαίων ὁ τύραννος, τοῖς θεοσεβέσιν, ἐμμανῶς ἐξέκαυσε· δυνάμει δὲ κρείττονι, περισωθέντας τούτους ἰδών, τὸν Δημιουργόν, καὶ Λυτρωτὴν ἀνεβόα, οἱ παῖδες εὐλογεῖτε, ἱερεῖς ἀνυμνεῖτε, λαὸς ὑπερυψοῦτε, εἰς πάντας τοὺς αἰῶνας.	The tyrant king of Babylon * had the furnace made seven times * hotter for the godly men, for he was furious. * But after he witnessed how * a higher power rescued them, * he cried out and said, “You Servants, bless the Creator; * sing hymns to the Redeemer, O you priests; and you people * exalt Him beyond measure, unto all the ages.” [SD]

Ἔφριξε πᾶσα ἀκοή, τὴν ἀπόῤῥητον Θεοῦ συγκατάβασιν, ὅπως ὁ Ὕψιστος, ἑκὼν κατῆλθεν μέχρι καὶ σώματος, παρθενικῆς ἀπὸ γαστρός, γενόμενος ἄνθρωπος· διὸ τὴν ἄχραντον, Θεοτόκον οἱ πιστοὶ μεγαλύνομεν.	All hearers shuddered when they heard * the unheard-of condescension of God to us: * that voluntarily * the Most High came down, and even bodily, * and from a Virgin’s womb was born, * becoming a man from her. * Hence, the immaculate * Theotokos we believers now magnify. Αἰνεσάτωσαν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ ἐν χορῷ, ἐν τυμπάνῳ καὶ ψαλτηρίῳ ψαλάτωσαν αὐτῷ.	Let them praise His name with dance; with tambourine and harp let them sing to Him.
Ὅτι εὐδοκεῖ Κύριος ἐν τῷ λαῷ αὐτοῦ καὶ ὑψώσει πραεῖς ἐν σωτηρίᾳ.	For the Lord is pleased with His people, and He shall exalt the gentle with salvation.
Καυχήσονται ὅσιοι ἐν δόξῃ καὶ ἀγαλλιάσονται ἐπὶ τῶν κοιτῶν αὐτῶν.	The holy ones shall boast in glory, and they shall greatly rejoice on their beds.
Αἱ ὑψώσεις τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐν τῷ λάρυγγι αὐτῶν, καὶ ῥομφαῖαι δίστομοι ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν αὐτῶν.	The high praise of God shall be in their mouth and a two-edged sword in their hand.
Τοῦ ποιῆσαι ἐκδίκησιν ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν, ἐλεγμοὺς ἐν τοῖς λαοῖς.	To deal retribution to the nations, reproving among the peoples.
Τοῦ δῆσαι τοὺς βασιλεῖς αὐτῶν ἐν πέδαις καὶ τοὺς ἐνδόξους αὐτῶν ἐν χειροπέδαις σιδηραῖς.	To shackle their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron.
Τοῦ ποιῆσαι ἐν αὐτοῖς κρῖμα ἔγγραπτον· δόξα αὕτη ἔσται πᾶσι τοῖς ὁσίοις αὐτοῦ.	To fulfill among them the written judgment: this glory have all His holy ones.
