Οἱ τὴν ἐπίγειον ἀπόλαυσιν μὴ ποθήσαντες Ἀθλοφόροι, οὐρανίων ἀγαθῶν ἠξιώθησαν, καὶ Ἀγγέλων συμπολῖται γεγόνασι· Κύριε πρεσβείαις αὐτῶν, ἐλέησον καὶ σῶσον ἡμᾶς.	The prizewinning Martyrs, who loved no earthly enjoyments, were accounted worthy of the bounties of heaven. They have become fellow citizens of the Angels. By their intercessions, O Lord, have mercy on us and save us. [SD]

Τῶν ἁγίων Μαρτύρων, πρεσβευόντων ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν, καὶ τὸν Χριστὸν ὑμνούντων, πᾶσα πλάνη πέπαυται, καὶ τῶν ἀνθρώπων τὸ γένος, πίστει διασῴζεται.	Since the holy Martyrs are interceding on our behalf and are sending up their praises to Christ, all delusion has ceased and by faith the human race is preserved. [SD]

Ἐὰν ἀνομίας παρατηρήσῃς, Κύριε Κύριε, τίς ὑποστήσεται; ὅτι παρὰ σοὶ ὁ ἱλασμός ἐστιν.	If You, O Lord, should mark transgression, O Lord, who would stand? For there is forgiveness with You. [SAAS]
Χοροὶ Μαρτύρων ἀντέστησαν, τοῖς τυράννοις λέγοντες· Ἡμεῖς στρατευόμεθα τῷ Βασιλεῖ τῶν δυνάμεων, εἰ καὶ πυρὶ καὶ βασάνοις ἀναλώσητε ἡμᾶς, οὐκ ἀρνούμεθα τῆς Τριάδος τὴν δύναμιν.	The companies of Martyrs withstood the tyrants and said: We are soldiers enlisted by the King of hosts. Though you consume us with tortures and fire, yet we do not deny the power of the Trinity. [SD]

Μεγάλη ἡ δόξα, ἣν ἐκτήσασθε Ἅγιοι, διὰ τῆς πίστεως! οὐ μόνον γὰρ ἐν τῷ πάσχειν, τὸν ἐχθρὸν ἐνικήσατε, ἀλλὰ καὶ μετὰ θάνατον πνεύματα ἀπελαύνετε, ἀσθενοῦντας θεραπεύετε, ψυχῶν καὶ σωμάτων ἰατροί, πρεσβεύσατε πρὸς Κύριον, ἐλεηθῆναι τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμῶν.	Great is the glory that you, O Saints, obtained through faith. For not only in your suffering did you defeat the foe, but you expel evil spirits even after death. Ὅτι παρὰ τῷ Κυρίῳ τὸ ἔλεος καὶ πολλὴ παρʼ αὐτῷ λύτρωσις, καὶ αὐτὸς λυτρώσεται τὸν Ἰσραὴλ ἐκ πασῶν τῶν ἀνομιῶν αὐτοῦ.	For with the Lord there is mercy, and with Him is abundant redemption; and He shall redeem Israel from all his transgressions. [SAAS]

Lord our God, You who search the depths of spirit * and foreknow the secrets of the heart, * appointed Eutychios the hierarch * to be shepherd of Your holy Church, * for You foresaw he would be * a chosen vessel like St. Paul. * For this reason did he guide her * to the pastures of correct belief. Ὅτι ἐκραταιώθη τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ ἐφʼ ἡμᾶς, καὶ ἡ ἀλήθεια τοῦ Κυρίου μένει εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα.	For His mercy rules over us; and the truth of the Lord endures forever. [SAAS]
Κύριε, σὺ ὁ τὸν σοφὸν Ἱεράρχην κατακοσμήσας τῇ χάριτι, καὶ Ἱεραρχίας ποδήρει, καταφαιδρύνας ὡς εὔσπλαγχνος, ἐν ἀρεταῖς καὶ ἡμᾶς, εὐχαῖς αὐτοῦ καταύγασον, τοῦ ὑμνεῖν σε ὀρθοδόξως, ἐν ἁγνείᾳ καὶ σεμνότητι.	Lord our God, You adorned the wise holy hierarch * with Your grace and You arrayed him in * dazzling episcopal vestments, * for You are gracious and merciful. * Now by his prayers for us * shine the grace of virtue on us, * to extol You with correct faith * with propriety and purity. Οἴμοι οἷον ἀγῶνα ἔχει ἡ ψυχή, χωριζομένη ἐκ τοῦ σώματος! οἴμοι πόσα δακρύει τότε, καὶ οὐχ ὑπάρχει ὁ ἐλεῶν αὐτήν! πρὸς τοὺς Ἀγγέλους τὰ ὄμματα ῥέπουσα, ἄπρακτα καθικετεύει, πρὸς τοὺς ἀνθρώπους τὰς χεῖρας ἐκτείνουσα, οὐκ ἔχει τὸν βοηθοῦντα. Διὸ ἀγαπητοί μου ἀδελφοί, ἐννοήσαντες ἡμῶν τὸ βραχὺ τῆς ζωῆς, τοῖς μεταστᾶσι τὴν ἀνάπαυσιν, παρὰ Χριστοῦ αἰτησώμεθα, καὶ ταῖς ψυχαῖς ἡμῶν τὸ μέγα ἔλεος.	Alas! Such agony afflicts a soul when it is separated from its body. Alas! How it weeps then, but there is no one to have mercy on it. It turns its eyes towards the Angels and prays to no avail. It reaches for other people, but there is no one who can help. Therefore, my beloved brethren, let us realize how short is our life, and let us pray to Christ to grant repose to the departed, and great mercy to our souls. [SD]

Παρῆλθεν ἡ σκιὰ τοῦ νόμου, τῆς χάριτος ἐλθούσης· ὡς γὰρ ἡ βάτος οὐκ ἐκαίετο καταφλεγομένη, οὕτω παρθένος ἔτεκες, καὶ παρθένος ἔμεινας· ἀντὶ στύλου πυρός, δικαιοσύνης ἀνέτειλεν Ἥλιος, ἀντὶ Μωϋσέως Χριστός, ἡ σωτηρία τῶν ψυχῶν ἡμῶν. And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen. So it came to pass, at the end of forty days, Noah opened the window of the ark he had made. Then he sent out a raven, which kept going to and fro until the waters dried up from the earth. He also sent out from himself a dove, to see if the waters had receded from the face of the ground. But the dove found no resting place for the sole of her foot, and she returned to him in the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth. So he put out his hand and took her, and brought her to himself in the ark. Then he waited yet another seven days, and again he sent out the dove from the ark. The dove returned to him in the evening, and behold, a freshly plucked olive leaf was in her mouth; and Noah knew the waters had receded from the earth. So he waited yet another seven days and again sent out the dove; however, she did not return to him any more. And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year of Noah’s life, in the first month, on the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and indeed, the surface of the ground was dry. Now in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dried. Then the Lord God spoke to Noah, saying, “Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and their wives with you. Also, bring out with you every living thing of all flesh: birds and cattle and every creeping thing that moves upon the earth, so they may abound on the earth, and increase and multiply on the earth.” So Noah went out, along with his wife and his sons and their wives. Every animal, every bird, and every creeping thing that moves upon the earth, according to their kind, went out of the ark. Then Noah built an altar to God, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered whole burnt offerings on the altar. So the Lord God smelled a sweet aroma. [SAAS]

Ὁ Ἱερεύς, κρατῶν ἐν τῇ δεξιᾷ αὐτοῦ λαμπάδα ἀνημμένην καὶ θυμιατήριον ἐξηρτημένον, ἵσταται ἐνώπιον τῆς ἁγίας Τραπέζης καὶ ποιεῖ σχῆμα σταυροῦ λέγων·	The Priest holds a lit candle in his right hand with the censer hanging below it, stands before the holy Table, gestures crosswise and says:
ΙΕΡΕΥΣ	PRIEST
Σοφία. Ὀρθοί.	Wisdom. Arise.
Καὶ στραφεὶς πρὸς τὸν λαὸν καὶ εὐλογῶν αὐτὸν σταυροειδῶς διὰ τῆς λαμπάδος λέγει·	Then he turns to face the people, blesses them crosswise with the candle, and says:
Φῶς Χριστοῦ φαίνει πᾶσι.	The light of Christ shines on all.
Εἶτα δὲ παραδίδωσι τήν τε λαμπάδα καὶ τὸ θυμιατήριον τῷ ὑπηρετοῦντι.	Then he hands the candle and the censer to the acolyte.

Στόμα δικαίου ἀποστάζει σοφίαν, γλῶσσα δὲ ἀδίκου ἐξολεῖται· Χείλη ἀνδρῶν δικαίων ἐπίστανται χάριτας, στόμα δὲ ἀσεβῶν καταστρέφεται. Ζυγοὶ δόλιοι βδέλυγμα ἐνώπιον Κυρίου, στάθμιον δὲ δίκαιον δεκτὸν αὐτῷ. Οὗ ἐὰν εἰσέλθῃ ὕβρις, ἐκεῖ καὶ ἀτιμία, στόμα δὲ ταπεινῶν μελετᾷ σοφίαν. Τελειότης εὐθέων ὁδηγήσει αὐτούς, καὶ ὑποσκελισμὸς ἀθετούντων προνομεύσει αὐτούς. Οὐκ ὠφελήσει ὑπάρχοντα ἐν ἡμέρᾳ θυμοῦ, δικαιοσύνη δὲ ῥύσεται ἀπὸ θανάτου. Ἀποθανὼν δίκαιος ἔλιπε μετάμελον· πρόχειρος δὲ γίνεται καὶ ἐπίχαρτος ἀσεβῶν ἀπώλεια. Δικαιοσύνη ἀμώμου ὀρθοτομεῖ ὁδούς, ἀσέβεια δὲ περιπίπτει ἀδικίᾳ. Δικαιοσύνη ἀνδρῶν ὀρθῶν ῥύσεται αὐτούς, τῇ δὲ ἀβουλίᾳ ἁλίσκονται παράνομοι. Τελευτήσαντος ἀνδρὸς δικαίου οὐκ ὄλλυται ἐλπίς, τὸ δὲ καύχημα τῶν ἀσεβῶν ὄλλυται. Δίκαιος ἐκ θήρας ἐκδύνει, ἀντʼ αὐτοῦ δὲ παραδίδοται ὁ ἀσεβής. Ἐν στόματι ἀσεβῶν παγὶς πολίταις, αἴσθησις δὲ δικαίων εὔοδος. Ἐν ἀγαθοῖς δικαίων κατώρθωται πόλις, καὶ ἐν ἀπωλείᾳ ἀσεβῶν ἀγαλλίαμα. Ἐν εὐλογίᾳ εὐθέων ὑψωθήσεται πόλις, στόματι δὲ ἀσεβῶν κατασκαφήσεται. Μυκτηρίζει πολίτας ἐνδεὴς φρενῶν, ἀνὴρ δὲ φρόνιμος ἡσυχίαν ἄγει.	The mouth of a righteous man distills wisdom, but the tongue of an unrighteous man utterly destroys. The lips of righteous men distill grace, but the mouth of the ungodly is perverse. Deceitful scales are an abomination before the Lord, but a righteous weight is acceptable to Him. Wherever arrogance enters, there also is dishonor, but the mouth of the humble meditates on wisdom. When a righteous man dies, he leaves regret, but the destruction of the ungodly is immediate and brings joy. Righteousness cuts straight and blameless paths, but ungodliness embraces wrongdoing. The righteousness of upright men delivers them, but lawless men are taken to their destruction. When a righteous man dies, his hope does not perish, but the boast of the ungodly perishes. A righteous man escapes from a snare, but the ungodly man is handed over in his place. There is a snare for citizens in the mouth of the ungodly, but the perception of the righteous is prosperous. A city stays upright in the good things of the righteous, but it is razed to the ground by the mouths of the ungodly. A man in need of discernment treats citizens with contempt, but a man of discernment keeps quiet. [SAAS]
