Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, You are magnified exceedingly; You clothe Yourself with thanksgiving and majesty, who cover Yourself with light as with a garment, who stretch out the heavens like a curtain; You are He who covers His upper chambers with water, who makes the clouds His means of approach, who walks on the wings of the winds, who makes His angels spirits and His ministers a flame of fire. He established the earth on its stable foundation; it shall not be moved unto ages of ages. The deep like a garment is His covering; the waters shall stand upon the mountains; at Your rebuke they shall flee; at the sound of Your thunder, they shall be afraid. Adam dwelt opposite the Garden of Eden. As he lamented his nakedness, he would moan and say, “Woe is me! I was seduced by deceit and robbed and removed from glory. Woe is me! Before, I was simply naked; but now, I am degraded. Oh Paradise! I will no longer enjoy your delights. I will no longer see my Lord and God and Maker; for I will return to the ground, out of which I was taken. O merciful, compassionate Lord, I pray You: Have mercy on me, for I am fallen.” [GOASD]

The First Theotokion of the Mode.

The King of heaven appeared on earth and lived among men, in His benevolence towards humanity. He assumed flesh from the pure Virgin, and, with the human nature that He assumed, He was born from her. Now twofold in nature, He is but one person, the Son. So we confess and correctly profess that fully divine and fully human He is one and the same, Christ our God. We pray you, His virgin Mother, entreat Him to have mercy on our souls. [GOASD]

Let us glorify Christ who has risen from the dead. He had assumed both a soul and a body, and enduring His Passion He separated them. His immaculate soul went down to Hades, and He devastated it, while in the grave the holy body of the Redeemer of our souls did not see corruption nor undergo decay. [GOASD]

Look what has become of me, wretch that I am! I transgressed but one commandment of the Master, and I am deprived of every blessing. O all-holy Paradise, for me you were planted, and now you have been shut because of Eve. Pray to Him who created you and fashioned me, that I may be sated again by your exquisiteness.” Then the Savior said to him, “I do not wish the destruction of My creature, but rather I desire that he be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.
