Θεὸς Κύριος καὶ ἐπέφανεν ἡμῖν. Εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἐν ὀνόματι Κυρίου. |
God is the Lord, and He revealed Himself to us. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. [SAAS] |
Στίχ. αʹ. Ἐξομολογεῖσθε τῷ Κυρίῳ καὶ ἐπικαλεῖσθε τὸ ὄνομα τὸ ἅγιον αὐτοῦ. |
Verse 1: Give thanks to the Lord and call upon His holy name. |
Στίχ. βʹ. Πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ἐκύκλωσάν με, καὶ τῷ ὀνόματι Κυρίου ἠμυνάμην αὐτούς. |
Verse 2: All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I defended myself against them. |
Στίχ. γʹ. Παρὰ Κυρίου ἐγένετο αὕτη καὶ ἔστι θαυμαστὴ ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς ἡμῶν. |
Verse 3: And this came about from the Lord, and it is wonderful in our eyes. |

Οἱ Μάρτυρές σου Κύριε, ἐν τῇ ἀθλήσει αὐτῶν, στεφάνους ἐκομίσαντο τῆς ἀφθαρσίας, ἐκ σοῦ τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν· σχόντες γὰρ τὴν ἰσχύν σου, τοὺς τυράννους καθεῖλον, ἔθραυσαν καὶ δαιμόνων, τὰ ἀνίσχυρα θράση. Αὐτῶν ταῖς ἱκεσίαις, Χριστὲ ὁ Θεός, σῶσον τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμῶν. |
Your Martyrs, O Lord, were worthily awarded by You * the crowns of incorruption, in that they contested for You our immortal God. * Since they possessed Your power, they defeated the tyrants, * dashing the demons’ powerless displays of defiance. * O Christ God, at their fervent entreaties, save our souls. [SD] |

Παρθένε πανάμωμε, Μήτηρ Χριστοῦ τοῦ Θεοῦ, ῥομφαία διῆλθέ σου, τὴν παναγίαν ψυχήν, ἡνίκα σταυρούμενον, ἔβλεψας ἑκουσίως, τὸν Υἱὸν καὶ Θεόν σου, ὅν περ εὐλογημένη, δυσωποῦσα μὴ παύσῃ, συγχώρησιν πταισμάτων, ἡμῖν δωρήσασθαι. |
O Mother of Christ our God, all-blameless Virgin most pure, * as Symeon told, a sword pierced through your all-holy soul * when you saw your Son and God * crucified by transgressors of His own will, O Lady. * Cease not to importune Him, * that He grant the forgiveness * of failings to us your servants, * O only most-blessed one. [SD] |
Ἀναγινώσκεται τὸ οἰκεῖον Κάθισμα τοῦ Ψαλτηρίου, ἤτοι Κάθισμα 10. Μεθʼ ὃ ἡ μικρὰ Συναπτή. |

Τῆς παναγίας, ἀχράντου, ὑπερευλογημένης, ἐνδόξου, δεσποίνης ἡμῶν, Θεοτόκου καὶ ἀειπαρθένου Μαρίας μετὰ πάντων τῶν ἁγίων μνημονεύσαντες, ἑαυτοὺς καὶ ἀλλήλους καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν ζωὴν ἡμῶν Χριστῷ τῷ Θεῷ παραθώμεθα. |
Remembering our all-holy, immaculate, most blessed, and glorious Lady, the Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary, with all the saints, let us commend ourselves and one another and our whole life to Christ our God. |

Μόνον ἐπάγη τὸ ξύλον, Χριστὲ τοῦ Σταυροῦ σου, τὰ θεμέλια ἐσαλεύθησαν τοῦ θανάτου Κύριε· ὃν γὰρ κατέπιε πόθῳ ὁ ᾅδης, ἀπέλυσε τρόμῳ. Ἐδειξας ἡμῖν τὸ σωτήριόν σου ἅγιε, καὶ δοξολογοῦμέν σε Υἱὲ Θεοῦ· ἐλέησον ἡμᾶς. |
The wood of Your Cross was merely planted, O Christ, and the foundations of death were shaken, O Lord. Hades had swallowed You eagerly, but with trembling it disgorged You. You have shown us Your salvation, O Holy One, and we glorify You, Son of God. Have mercy on us. [SD] |
Στίχ. Ὑψοῦτε Κύριον τὸν Θεὸν ἡμῶν καὶ προσκυνεῖτε τῷ ὑποποδίῳ τῶν ποδῶν αὐτοῦ, ὅτι ἅγιός ἐστι. |
Verse: Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at the footstool of His feet; for He is holy. |

Κύριε, κατέκρινάν σε Ἰουδαῖοι θανάτῳ, τὴν ζωὴν τῶν ἁπάντων· οἱ τὴν Ἐρυθρὰν ῥάβδῳ πεζεύσαντες, Σταυρῷ σε προσήλωσαν· καὶ οἱ ἐκ πέτρας μέλι θηλάσαντες, χολήν σοι προσήνεγκαν· ἀλλʼ ἑκὼν ὑπέμεινας, ἵνα ἡμᾶς ἐλευθερώσῃς, τῆς δουλείας τοῦ ἐχθροῦ· Χριστὲ ὁ Θεὸς δόξα σοι. |
Lord, the life of all, the Jews condemned You to death; they who by the rod of Moses crossed the Red Sea on foot, had you nailed to the Cross; they who suckled honey from the rock, gave You gall to drink. But You endured it all, so that you might free us from slavery to the enemy. O Lord, glory to You! [SD] |

The ever-virgin Maiden who gave birth to You, O Christ, saw you lifted on the Cross for us, and her soul was pierced with the spear of sorrow; and she wept, and as a mother she lamented. At her supplications, have mercy on us, O Lord of mercy. [SD] |

Σήμερον τὸ προφητικὸν πεπλήρωται λόγιον· ἰδοὺ γὰρ προσκυνοῦμεν εἰς τὸν τόπον, οὗ ἔστησαν οἱ πόδες σου Κύριε· καὶ ξύλου σωτηρίας γευσάμενοι, τῶν ἐξ ἁμαρτίας παθῶν ἐλευθερίας ἐτύχομεν, πρεσβείαις τῆς Θεοτόκου μόνε Φιλάνθρωπε. |
Today the prophetic saying has been fulfilled. For, behold, we are worshiping in the place where Your feet stood, O Lord. And now that we have eaten from the tree of salvation, we have obtained the freedom from the passions that come from sin, by the intercessions of the Theotokos, O only benevolent God. [SD] |
Στίχ. Ὁ δὲ Θεὸς βασιλεὺς ἡμῶν πρὸ αἰώνων, εἰργάσατο σωτηρίαν ἐν μέσῳ τῆς γῆς. |
Verse: God is our King before the ages; He worked salvation in the midst of the earth. |

Ὁ Σταυρός σου Κύριε ἡγίασται· ἐν αὐτῷ γὰρ γίνονται ἰάματα, τοῖς ἀσθενοῦσιν ἐν ἁμαρτίαις· διʼ αὐτοῦ σοι προσπίπτομεν· Ἐλέησον ἡμᾶς. |
O Lord, Your Cross was sanctified. Truly cures are effected by it, for those who are sick in sins. Through it we worship You. Have mercy on us. [SD] |

Ἐν ξύλῳ βλέπουσα νεκρόν, κρεμάμενον ἡ Παρθένος, Θεὸν ὃν ἔτεκε σαρκί, θρηνῳδοῦσα ἐβόα· Τὴν ἄφατον μακροθυμίαν σου Υἱέ, ἐκπλήττομαι· πῶς ὡς κατάκριτον Σταυρῷ, προσήλωσαν οἱ ἄνομοι, τὸν δίκαιον Κριτήν, καὶ μόνον σε Δεσπότην. |
When the Virgin, who had given birth to God in the flesh, saw Him hanging on the Cross, she lamented and cried, “I am astounded by Your ineffable long-suffering, O my Son. How could these unlawful men nail You, the just Judge and only Master, to the Cross, as if You were a convict?” [SD] |

Τὸ ξύλον ἤνεγκε φθοράν, ἐν Ἐδὲμ τῷ γενάρχῃ· Σταυροῦ δὲ ξύλον τὴν ζωήν, ἤνθησεν ἐν Κρανίῳ· πεπάτηται καὶ γὰρ κακίᾳ τοῦ ἐχθροῦ· ἠλέηται τῇ προσηλώσει τοῦ Χριστοῦ, καὶ εὗρε τὸν Παράδεισον, κραυγάζων ὁ Ἀδάμ· Ὦ ξύλον εὐλογημένον! |
In Eden, the tree brought corruption to our ancestor. But now on Calvary, the tree of the Cross has blossomed life. For the wickedness of the enemy has been trampled; and because of Christ’s crucifixion, Adam has obtained mercy, and he has found Paradise. Therefore he cries aloud, “O tree, you are blessed!” [SD] |

Ἀθλητικὸν ἀγῶνα, ὑπομείναντες οἱ Ἅγιοι, καὶ τὰ βραβεῖα τῆς νίκης, παρὰ σοῦ κομισάμενοι, κατήργησαν τὰς ἐπινοίας τῶν παρανόμων, ἐδέξαντο στεφάνους τῆς ἀφθαρσίας. Διʼ αὐτῶν ὁ Θεὸς δυσωπούμενος, δώρησαι ἡμῖν τὸ μέγα ἔλεος. |
The holy athletes endured the contest, and they received from You the medals of victory. They destroyed the machinations of the lawless, and they received the crowns of incorruption. Through them, O God, save our souls. [SD] |

Ὅτι εἰ ἠθέλησας θυσίαν, ἔδωκα ἄν· ὁλοκαυτώματα οὐκ εὐδοκήσεις. Θυσία τῷ Θεῷ πνεῦμα συντετριμμένον· καρδίαν συντετριμμένην καὶ τεταπεινωμένην ὁ Θεὸς οὐκ ἐξουδενώσει. Ἀγάθυνον, Κύριε, ἐν τῇ εὐδοκίᾳ σου τὴν Σιών, καὶ οἰκοδομηθήτω τὰ τείχη Ἰερουσαλήμ. Τότε εὐδοκήσεις θυσίαν δικαιοσύνης, ἀναφορὰν καὶ ὁλοκαυτώματα. Τότε ἀνοίσουσιν ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριόν σου μόσχους. |
Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression. Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me. Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice. Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your guiding Spirit. I will teach transgressors Your ways, and the ungodly shall turn back to You. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall greatly rejoice in Your righteousness. O Lord, You shall open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise. For if You desired sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with whole burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken and humbled heart God will not despise. Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built; then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings; then shall they offer young bulls on Your altar. Τοὺς νεοφανεῖς, ὁπλίτας τῆς πίστεως, ὡς ὑπὲρ Χριστοῦ, προθύμως ἐναθλήσαντας, ἐγκωμίων στέμμασιν, ἐπαξίως πάντες στεφανώσωμεν, ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν πρεσβεύοντας Χριστῷ ὡς πύργους καὶ φύλακας τῆς Ῥωμαίων ἀρχῆς. |
Let us all now worthily crown with hymns of praise the newly appearing soldiers of the Faith, for they willingly competed for the sake of Christ. They intercede with Christ on our behalf, as you are towers and guardians of the Orthodox. [SD] |

O forty-two Athletes of Christ, along with all the Saints from the beginning of time, you clearly see the extraordinary beauty and ineffable glory of Christ, which hosts of Angels long to behold. By your holy intercessions, please illumine us who extol you, drive away the darkness of our sins, and make us sons of the light, as you are towers and guardians of the Orthodox. [GOASD] |

Στερεώσαι Κύριος ὁ Θεός τὴν ἁγίαν καὶ ἀμώμητον πίστιν τῶν εὐσεβῶν καὶ ὀρθοδόξων χριστιανῶν σὺν τῇ ἁγίᾳ αὐτοῦ Μεγάλῃ Ἐκκλησίᾳ, τῇ ἱερᾷ ἡμῶν Ἀρχιεπισκοπῇ, [τῇ ἱερᾷ Μητροπόλει ταύτῃ] καὶ τῇ πόλει ταύτῃ εἰς αἰῶνας αἰώνων. |
The Lord God make firm the holy and pure faith of the pious Orthodox Christians, together with the Holy and Great Church of Christ, our Sacred Archdiocese, [this Sacred Metropolis,] and this city, to the ages of ages. |

Χριστὸς ὁ ἀληθινὸς Θεὸς ἡμῶν ταῖς πρεσβείαις τῆς παναχράντου καὶ παναμώμου ἁγίας αὐτοῦ Μητρός· δυνάμει τοῦ τιμίου καὶ ζωοποιοῦ Σταυροῦ· προστασίαις τῶν τιμίων ἐπουρανίων δυνάμεων ἀσωμάτων· ἱκεσίαις τοῦ τιμίου, ἐνδόξου, προφήτου, προδρόμου καὶ βαπτιστοῦ Ἰωάννου· τῶν ἁγίων ἐνδόξων καὶ πανευφήμων ἀποστόλων· τῶν ἁγίων ἐνδόξων καὶ καλλινίκων μαρτύρων· τῶν ὁσίων καὶ θεοφόρων πατέρων ἡμῶν· (τοῦ ἁγίου τοῦ ναοῦ)· τῶν ἁγίων καὶ δικαίων θεοπατόρων Ἰωακεὶμ καὶ Ἄννης· καὶ πάντων τῶν ἁγίων ἐλεήσαι καὶ σώσαι ἡμᾶς ὡς ἀγαθὸς καὶ φιλάνθρωπος καὶ ἐλεήμων Θεός. |
May Christ our true God, through the intercessions of His all-pure and all-immaculate holy Mother, the power of the precious and life-giving Cross, the protection of the honorable, bodiless powers of heaven, the supplications of the honorable, glorious prophet and forerunner John the Baptist, of the holy, glorious, and praiseworthy apostles, of the holy, glorious, and triumphant martyrs, of our righteous and God-bearing fathers, (local patron saint); of the holy and righteous ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, and of all the saints, have mercy on us and save us, as He is good, benevolent, and merciful God. |
