Save, O Lord, Your people and bless Your inheritance, granting victory to the faithful over the enemy, and by Your Cross protecting Your commonwealth. [SD]

We have obtained your protection, O immaculate Lady, and by your earnest entreaties we are saved from calamities. In everything we are guarded by the Cross of your Son. The Cross was set up on the earth, and it touched the heavens; not that the tree reached that height, but that You who were on it fill all things. Glory to You, O Lord. [SD]

Χαρὰν ἡ σύμπασα, κτίσις ὁρῶσά σε, χαίρει μακρόθυμε, Σταυρῷ ὑψούμενον, ἡ πανακήρατος Ἁγνή, ἐβόα καὶ πανάμωμος· λύτρωσιν γὰρ εὕρατο, διὰ σοῦ τέκνον φίλτατον· ξύλῳ γὰρ ἰάτρευσας, τὴν τοῦ ξύλου κατάκρισιν· ἐγὼ δὲ νῦν τὰ σπλάγχνα δονοῦμαι, μὴ φέρουσα ὁρᾷν σε θανατούμενον.	The pure and all-immaculate and blameless Virgin cried out to You, “All creation greatly rejoices, seeing You, the long-suffering Lord, lifted up on the Cross. For it has found redemption through You, my beloved Son. By a tree, You remedied the condemnation incurred because of the tree. But I am shaken to the core, not able to watch You being put to death.” [SD]

Τὸ ἀναρίθμητον, τῆς ἐξουσίας σου, καὶ τὸ ἑκούσιον, τὸ τῆς σταυρώσεως, αἱ τῶν Ἀγγέλων στρατιαί, ἐξίσταντο καθορῶσαι. Πῶς ὁ ἀθεώρητος, ἐν σαρκὶ ἐμαστίζετο; θέλων ἐκλυτρώσασθαι, τῆς φθορᾶς τὸ ἀνθρώπινον· διὸ ὡς ζωοδότῃ βοῶμέν σοι· Δόξα Χριστὲ τῇ εὐσπλαγχνίᾳ σου.	The regiments of Angels were amazed by the immensity of Your authority and the voluntary nature of Your crucifixion, as they watched how You, who are invisible, were being whipped in the flesh, wishing as You did to rescue human nature from corruption. Therefore they cried out to You, the Giver of Life, “Glory to Your compassion, O Christ!” [SD]

Σταυρὸν καὶ θάνατον, παθεῖν ἑλόμενος, μέσον τῆς κτίσεως, ταῦτα ὑπέμεινας, ὅτε ηὐδόκησας Σωτήρ, τὸ σῶμά σου προσηλῶσαι, τότε καὶ ὁ ἥλιος, τὰς ἀκτῖνας ἀπέκρυψε, τότε καὶ Λῃστὴς ἰδών, ἐν Σταυρῷ σε ἀνύμνησε, βοῶν σοι εὐλαβῶς· Μνήσθητί μου, καὶ ἔλαβε πιστεύσας τὸν Παράδεισον. Ἡ ἀπειρόζυγος, καὶ θεία δάμαλις, κατανοήσασα, μόσχον τὸν ἴδιον, ἐθελουσίως ἐν Σταυρῷ, τὸ πάθος ὑπομένοντα, οἴμοι τέκνον! ἔλεγε· τί τὸ ξένον μυστήριον; πῶς ὁ ὢν ἀθάνατος, κατεδέξω τὸν θάνατον, ὑμνῶ σου τό, μακρόθυμον Λόγε, δοξάζω τὸ ἀμέτρητον ἔλεος.	When the divine and unyoked heifer comprehended that her own young bull was enduring the Passion and crucified of His own will, she uttered, “My son, what is this strange mystery? How can You, being immortal, deign to die? I extol Your long-suffering, O Logos. I glorify Your immeasurable mercy.” [SD]

Τὸ εὔψυχον τῆς καρτερίας ὑμῶν, ἐνίκησε τὰ μηχανήματα τοῦ ἀρχεκάκου ἐχθροῦ, Ἀθλοφόροι πανεύφημοι· διὰ τοῦτο τῆς αἰωνίου κατηξιώθητε μακαριότητος. Ἀλλὰ πρεσβεύσατε τῷ Κυρίῳ τοῦ φιλοχρίστου λαοῦ σῶσαι τὸ ποίμνιον, Μάρτυρες ὑπάρχοντες τῆς ἀληθείας.	Your wholehearted endurance vanquished the machinations of the enemy and author of evil, O all-lauded medal-winners. That is why you have been counted worthy of eternal blessedness. Τὰ ἐπουράνια, ἰδόντα ἔφριξαν, καὶ τὰ ἐπίγεια, φόβῳ ἐτρόμαξαν, ὅτε ὑψώθης ἐν Σταυρῷ, ἑκὼν ὁ ἀναμάρτητος, ἥλιος ἐσκότασε, καὶ σελήνη ἠμαύρωται, τότε καὶ ἡ Μήτηρ σου, θρηνῳδοῦσα ἐφθέγγετο. Υἱέ μου, τί τὸ ὅραμα τοῦτο; πῶς ὑπὲρ πάντων μόνος πέπονθας;	Heaven saw it and shuddered, and earth quaked in fear, when You, the sinless One, were lifted on the Cross voluntarily. The sun went dark and so did the moon. Then Your Mother lamented and uttered, “My Son, what is this spectacle? How is it that You alone suffer for the sake of all?” [SD]

Φιλήσας Χριστοῦ, τὰ θεῖα θελήματα, ἐδείχθης Πιστῶν, ἀκέστωρ φιλόχριστος, γενναιόφρον Πάμφιλε, διὰ τοῦτο καὶ μακαρίζομεν, τὴν σεπτήν σου πανήγυριν. Πρεσβεύων μὴ παύσῃ ὑπὲρ πάντων ἡμῶν.	You loved the divine commandments that Christ enjoined, * and thus you became a Christ-loving champion * of the faithful, brave Pamphilos. * That is why we honor you and observe * the sacred feast of your memory. * Never cease interceding on behalf of us all. Ἰδοὺ ἐξέλαμψεν ἡ φωσφόρος, καὶ φωταυγὴς θεία μνήμη τοῦ στεῤῥοῦ ἀθλητοῦ, Παμφίλου τοῦ θεοκήρυκος, πάντων τὰς ὄψεις καὶ τὰς καρδίας καταυγάζουσα φέγγει τῷ ἀνεσπέρῳ. Behold, the resplendent and radiant divine memory of the mighty athlete and herald of God, Pamphilos, has shined on us again, illuminating everyone’s faces and hearts with the light that never sets. Come, fans of church holidays, let us joyfully go and celebrate it, and with songs let us crown his divine day, for it is a fine annual feast-day. In so doing, we bless and extol the Lord, who worthily crowned him. And he never ceases interceding on behalf of us all. [SD]

On February 16, we commemorate the holy Martyrs Pamphilos, Valens, Paul, Seleucus, Porphyrios, Julian, Theodoulos, Elias, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Samuel, and Daniel.
