You quenched the flames of passion, blessed one, with abundant tears; ⁄ you calmed the waves of the sea and checked the assaults of wild beasts, saying: ⁄⁄ Most blessed are You, almighty God, for You have saved me from the flame and storm! Τὸ ἀσάλευτον στήριγμα, τὸ τῆς πίστεως, καὶ σεβάσμιον δώρημα, τῶν ψυχῶν ἡμῶν, τὴν Θεοτόκον ἐν ὕμνοις μεγαλύνωμεν πιστοί. Χαῖρε ἡ τὴν πέτραν τῆς ζωῆς, ἐν γαστρί σου χωρήσασα, χαῖρε τῶν περάτων ἡ ἐλπίς, θλιβομένων ἀντίληψις, χαῖρε Νύμφη ἀνύμφευτε.	O Believers, let us magnify the Theotokos in hymns. She is the unshakable support of the Faith, and the venerable gift to our souls. “Rejoice! for in your womb you contained the Rock of life. Rejoice! as the hope of all the earth, and the help of those in trouble! Rejoice, O unwedded Bride!” [SD]

Remembering our all-holy, immaculate, most blessed, and glorious Lady, the Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary, with all the saints, let us commend ourselves and one another and our whole life to Christ our God.

Παροικοῦσα ἐν τῇ γῇ, ψυχή μου μετανόησον, χοῦς ἐν τάφῳ οὐχ ὑμνεῖ, πταισμάτων οὐ λυτροῦται, βόησον Χριστῷ τῷ Θεῷ. Καρδιογνῶστα ἥμαρτον, πρίν με καταδικάσῃς, φεῖσαί μου ὁ Θεός, καὶ ἐλέησόν με.	O my soul, repent while you still sojourn on earth, for dust in the grave does not sing praise, nor is it released from transgressions. Cry out now to Christ God, “Knower of the heart, I have sinned. Before You condemn me, spare me, O God, and have mercy on me.” [SD]

How long will you persist in your offenses, O my soul? Till when will you put off repenting? Call to mind the judgment that is coming, and cry aloud to Christ God: “O sinless Lord, who know the hearts of all, I have sinned. Have mercy on me.” [SD]

Καταφυγὴ καὶ δύναμις ἡμῶν Θεοτόκε, ἡ κραταιὰ βοήθεια τοῦ κόσμου, ταῖς πρεσβείαις σου σκέπε τοὺς δούλους σου, ἀπὸ πάσης ἀνάγκης, μόνη εὐλογημένη.	You are our refuge and strength, O Theotokos, and for the world you are a mighty assistance. With your intercessions shelter your servants, from any hard necessity, O only blessed Lady. [SD]

Ἐν τῇ σκέπῃ σου, προσπεφευγότες, πίστει κράζομεν, ψυχῆς ἐκ βάθους, θεομακάριστε Προφῆτα καὶ Πρόδρομε, τῶν πειρασμῶν καὶ κινδύνων τὸν τάραχον, καὶ νοσημάτων τὸν σάλον κατεύνασον, καὶ ματαίωσον ἐχθρῶν δυσμενῶν βουλεύματα, αἰτούμενος ἡμῖν τὸ μέγα ἔλεος.	We rely on you and your protection, * and we soulfully with faith implore you, * O St. John, Prophet, Forerunner, blest by God, * to quell the storm of diseases afflicting us, * the woes and dangers that shake us like turbulence. * Frustrate every plot that enemies have prepared for us, * and ask the Lord to grant us the great mercy. Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. Ὡς ἀσκητὴν τῆς εὐσεβείας δόκιμον, καὶ ἀθλητὴν τῇ προαιρέσει τίμιον, καὶ ἐρήμου καρτερόψυχον, πολίτην ἅμα καὶ συνίστορα, ἐν ὕμνοις ἐπαξίως εὐφημήσωμεν, Μαρτινιανόν τὸν ἀεισέβαστον· αὐτὸς γὰρ τὸν ὄφιν κατεπάτησεν.	Let us extol in hymns the ever-venerable, * devout Martinian and praise him worthily. * Practiced in ascetic discipline, * a martyr of conscience most honorable, * he patiently lived in the wilderness, * as a citizen of it who knew it well, * for he indeed trampled on the serpent’s head. Ἀπὸ περάτων ἕως περάτων διεξῆλθεν ὁ φθόγγος τῶν τερπνῶν ἀρετῶν, καὶ τῶν ἐνθέων ἀγώνων σου· νέος γὰρ ὑπάρχων τῇ ἡλικίᾳ, ἐρήμοις ἐπόθησας συνδιαιτᾶσθαι, ὕμνους Χριστῷ, ψαλμῳδίας, εὐχὰς ἀναπέμπων ἀεί· ἡμέραν τε καὶ νύκτα συναύξων ἔν τε πόνοις καὶ δάκρυσιν, ἁγνῶς τὸν βίον ἐτέλεσας, καὶ σοφῶς τὸν ἀρχέκακον ᾔσχυνας. Αὐτὸς γὰρ τὸν ὄφιν κατεπάτησας.	The proclamation of your delightful virtues and your godly exploits has gone forth, from one end of the earth to the other. When you were still young, you longed to live in the wilderness, and to continually send up hymns and Psalms and prayers to Christ. Day and night, you matured with labors and tears, and you led your life in chastity. Wisely you put the archevil foe to shame, for you indeed trampled on the serpent’s head. [SD]

Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ, μνήμη τῶν Ἁγίων Ἀποστόλων καὶ Μαρτύρων, Ἀκύλα καὶ Πρισκίλλης.	On this day we also commemorate the holy apostles and martyrs Aquila and Priscilla.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ, μνήμη τοῦ Ὁσίου Πατρὸς ἡμῶν Εὐλογίου, Ἀρχιεπισκόπου Ἀλεξανδρείας.	On this day we also commemorate our devout father Evlogios, Archbishop of Alexandria.
