O Theotokos, revealed through you to us on earth was the mystery, that was hidden for ages and unknown by the angels. God became incarnate, uniting natures without confusion, and for us He voluntarily accepted crucifixion, through which He resurrected the first-formed man, and He saved our souls from death. [GOASD]

Mode 3.

Christ has been raised from the dead; He is the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. As the first-born of all creation and maker of all things that were made, in himself He renewed our human nature that had been ravaged. O Death, you no longer have dominion, for the Master of all has destroyed your power. [GOASD]

You tasted death in the flesh, O Lord. But by Your resurrection, You cut off its bitterness and strengthened humanity against it, by reversing the failure that resulted in the ancient curse. O Defender of our life, glory to You, O Lord! [GOASD]

Virgin Theotokos, we sing hymns extolling you, through whom came humanity’s salvation. For your Son and our God, who is benevolent, accepted the Passion and the crucifixion, in the flesh that He assumed from you, and thus from destruction He rescued us. [GOASD]

You voluntarily endured Your suffering, * and Your divinity remained unchanged, O Lord. * Hades was terrified by this; and lamenting, it said to itself, * “I fear Him whose physical constitution is not destroyed. * I see the invisible One mystically waging war on me. * Now those whom I am holding are crying out, * ‘Glory to Your resurrection, O Christ!’” [GOASD]

We the believers now theologize about * the inexplicable, incomprehensible, * and hidden mystery of Your crucifixion and resurrection. * For death and the netherworld have been stripped of their spoils today, * and our human nature has now put on the imperishable. * And therefore in thanksgiving we cry aloud: * Glory to Your resurrection, O Christ. You carried mystically within your womb the Lord, * incomprehensible, uncircumscribable, * and one in essence with the Father and the Spirit, O Mother of God. * Ever since your childbirth, we have learned how to glorify * the Trinity’s energy, which is single and unconfused. * And therefore in thanksgiving we sing to you: * Rejoice, O favored Maiden full of grace! Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.

When the hosts of the Angels saw how You were accounted among the dead, they all marveled. You, O Savior, are the One who destroyed the might of death; and when You arose You raised Adam with yourself and from Hades liberated everyone. [SD]

Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.

“Why do you mingle the ointments with your tears full of pity, O women disciples?” Thus the Angel who was shining in the tomb cried to the myrrh-bearing women. “See for yourselves the empty tomb and understand, that the Savior has risen from the sepulcher.”

Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.

Very early in the morning, the myrrh-bearing women were hastening to Your tomb lamenting. But the Angel appeared to them and uttered, “The time for lamentation has ended; weep no more. Go announce the Resurrection to the Apostles.”

Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.

When the myrrh-bearing women had come with their spices to Your sepulcher, O Savior, they heard the voice of an Angel clearly speaking to them, “Why do you account among the dead the One who lives? For as God, He has risen from the sepulcher.”

We bow down in worship to the Father and His Son and the Holy Spirit, the Holy Trinity, one in essence; and we cry aloud with the Seraphim: Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O Lord.

Giving birth to the Giver of life, O Virgin, you delivered Adam from sin, and to Eve you have rendered joy in place of sorrow. He who from you became incarnate, God and man, has directed to life him who fell from it.

After this He appeared to the eleven themselves as they sat at table and He upbraided them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who saw Him after He had risen. Saint of God, intercede for us.

Being an icon of the one nailed to the Cross by your suffering, blessed one, you endured the pains of the flesh bravely and became a conqueror worthily counted in the ranks of the martyrs. [VPA]

By trusting God, with the whip of your prayers, Father, you pushed/forced the beast to abandon the pray which it has caught unrighteously, fulfilling with a most merciful heart the faithful woman’s request. [VPA]

A crowd of august women contended together with you, ever-memorable one, for strengthened by the power of the Cross, they crushed the much-scheming head of the enemy, he plaited for himself the diadem of victory. [VPA]

Weakness was strengthened by God’s power and grace, for behold, vigorously, women were most brave, trampling the serpent who once drove Eve out of Paradise. [VPA]

Glory.

Drowning the lifeless images of the evil demons you moved yourselves to become treasures of the heavenly temple and you illuminated the church of the first-born. [VPA]

Let heaven and earth join in dance today and in harmony extol Christ our God, for He raised the prisoners from their tombs. All creation celebrates together, offering worthy songs to our Redeemer, the Creator of all. For today, with himself as the Giver of Life, He raises people from the netherworld and lifts them up to heaven. He quashes the enemy’s haughtiness and smashes the gates of Hades, by the divine power of His authority. [GOASD]

On this day the holy two children, who contested with St. Blaise and the seven women, died by the sword.

On this day we also commemorate the finding of the relics of St. Zachariah the prophet, the father of the venerable Forerunner.

On this day we also commemorate Theodora the Empress who upheld orthodoxy.

The holy new martyr George the Serbian, who witnessed in the city of Sofia in the year 1515, died by fire.

The fire of deceit was extinguished by the sprinkling of your blood. Creation was illumined by the brightness of your words as it cries out, O Blaise: Blessed is the God of our fathers. [VPA]

You see the one for whom you thirsted not in the shadow nor in mysteries but face to face, for the mirrors were broken up, and you sing rejoicing: Blessed is the God of our fathers. [VPA]

By the drops of your blood you dried up the deep sea of atheism, O Martyr. You sprang up for the world springs of healings, put an end to the burning of all manner of passions for those who with faith come to you and exalt Christ beyond measure unto all the ages. [VPA]
