Save, O Lord, Your people and bless Your inheritance, granting victory to the faithful over the enemy, and by Your Cross protecting Your commonwealth. [SD]

We have obtained your protection, O immaculate Lady, and by your earnest entreaties we are saved from calamities. In everything we are guarded by the Cross of your Son. Βλέπων ὁ λῃστὴς τὸν ἀρχηγὸν τῆς ζωῆς, ἐπὶ Σταυροῦ κρεμάμενον ἔλεγεν· Εἰ μὴ Θεὸς ὑπῆρχε σαρκωθείς, ὁ σὺν ἡμῖν σταυρωθείς, οὐκ ἂν ὁ ἥλιος τὰς ἀκτῖνας ἐναπέκρυψεν, οὐδὲ ἡ γῆ σειομένη ἐκυμαίνετο. Ἀλλʼ ὁ πάντων ἀνεχόμενος, μνήσθητί μου Κύριε, ἐν τῇ Βασιλείᾳ σου.	When the Robber saw the Author of life hanging on the Cross, he said, “If He who is crucified with us were not God incarnate, the sun would not have hid its rays, nor would the earth have quaked and trembled. I pray You who endure everything, remember me, O Lord, in Your Kingdom.” [SD]

Ἐν μέσῳ δύο λῃστῶν, ζυγὸς δικαιοσύνης εὑρέθη ὁ Σταυρός σου· τοῦ μὲν καταγομένου εἰς ᾅδην, τῷ βάρει τῆς βλασφημίας, τοῦ δὲ κουφιζομένου πταισμάτων, πρός γνῶσιν θεολογίας. Χριστὲ ὁ Θεός, δόξα σοι.	Between the two robbers, Your Cross was a balance of justice. One was weighed down to hell by the weight of his blasphemy, the other floated up from his sins to the knowledge of theology. O Christ God, glory to You. [SD]

O noble Lady, as you watched your Son, who was incarnated from your blood, and whom you bore incomprehensibly, hanging on a cross between two criminals, your heart ached, and you grieved maternally and cried out, “Alas, O my Child! What is this divine and ineffable plan of Yours, by which You brought Your creature back to life! I extol Your compassion.” [SD]

Θεώσεως ψευσθείς, ὁ γενάρχης ἐλπίδος, φθορᾶς τοῖς ἐξ αὐτοῦ, πᾶσιν αἴτιος ὤφθη· σὺ δέ διὰ Σταυροῦ σου, ζωὴν πηγάζεις ὡς ὑπεράγαθος· θέλων καὶ γὰρ ἐπάγης, ἵνα τὸ πρῶτον λύσῃς κατάκριμα· διὸ ὑμνοῦμέν σου Χριστέ, τὸ πάθος τὸ ἑκούσιον.	When Adam our progenitor was deceived into hoping to become a god, he became the cause of corruption to his descendants. But You, Lord most benevolent, pour out life by means of the Cross. You were willingly crucified, so as to reverse the former verdict. Therefore we extol Your voluntary Passion, O Christ. [SD]

Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. Since the righteous Xenophon * and his august wife * have escaped the surging sea * of earthly life, they now rejoice * above in heaven, where they are joined * by their own offspring. * And Christ do they magnify. Ξένην ὁδὸν θεοπρεπῶς, Ξενοφῶν διοδεύσας, μετὰ καὶ τῆς συζύγου ἐλάθετε τὴν φύσιν, ὥσπερ ἀσώματοι σαφῶς ἐν τῇ γῇ ὀφθέντες· διὸ καὶ πύλαι ἡμῖν οὐράνιαι ἠνοίγησαν, καὶ μετὰ τῶν Ἀγγέλων χορεύετε, ὡς τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος γεγονότες τοῦ Κυρίου ἐργάται, μετὰ καὶ τῶν τέκνων. O Xenophon, with your wife you traversed a strange way in a manner worthy of God, and you eluded nature, and thus manifest on earth as though bodiless. Hence the gates of heaven were opened to you, and you join chorus with the Angels, since you had become laborers of the Lord’s vineyard along with your sons. May Christ our true God, through the intercessions of His all-pure and all-immaculate holy Mother, the power of the precious and life-giving Cross, the protection of the honorable, bodiless powers of heaven, the supplications of the honorable, glorious prophet and forerunner John the Baptist, of the holy, glorious, and praiseworthy apostles, of the holy, glorious, and triumphant martyrs, of our righteous and God-bearing fathers, (local patron saint); of the holy and righteous ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, and of all the saints, have mercy on us and save us, as He is good, benevolent, and merciful God.
