Τῆς ἐρήμου πολίτης καὶ ἐν σώματι ἄγγελος καὶ θαυματουργὸς ἀνεδείχθης θεοφόρε πατὴρ ἡμῶν Μακάριε· νηστείᾳ, ἀγρυπνίᾳ, προσευχῇ, οὐράνια χαρίσματα λαβών· θεραπεύεις τοὺς νοσοῦντας καὶ τὰς ψυχὰς τῶν πίστει προστρεχόντων σοι. We have obtained your protection, O immaculate Lady, and by your earnest entreaties we are saved from calamities. In everything we are guarded by the Cross of your Son. Ὅτε προσηλώθης βουλήσει, καὶ ὑψώθης τῷ Σταυρῷ σου, ἡ Θεοτόκος παρισταμένη ἔλεγε· Κύριε Κύριε, οὐδεμιᾷ γυναικὶ συνέβη τὸ ἄλγος μου· Θεόν σε ἐπίσταμαι ἐκ τῶν θαυμάτων· καὶ ἰδοὺ βλέπω σε, νεκρὸν ἐν ξύλῳ κρεμάμενον· ἀλλʼ ἀνάστηθι, ὡς εἶπας, ὅπως σοι βοῶ, χαίρουσα· Δόξα σοι. In the house of abstinence * the Lord has truly * placed you as shining star * that never wavers from its course * and to the Light guides the universe, * Father of fathers, devout Saint Makarios. Τὸν τοῦ Κυρίου ἐραστήν, τῶν Μοναστῶν τὸ κλέος, θαυμάτων τὸν ταμίαν, Μακάριον τὸν μέγαν, ἀνευφημήσωμεν πιστῶς· οὗτος γὰρ τῷ φέγγει τῶν ἀγώνων αὐτοῦ, ὡς ἥλιος ἐξέλαμψε, φωτίζων τοὺς ἐν σκότει ὑπάρχοντας παθῶν καὶ ἁμαρτίας, καὶ ἐκδιώκων τῶν δαιμόνων τὴν ζοφερὰν πλάνην ἀνενδότως. That lover of the Lord, the glory of monastics, the treasury of miracles, Makarios the great, let us faithfully extol. For by the luster of his struggles he shone like the sun, illumining those in the darkness of passions and sin, and unyieldingly driving out the dark delusion of the demons. Therefore he gushes forth rivers of rich miracles as if from a rational fount, and he strengthens the souls of all who cry out, Father of father, devout Saint Makarios. [SD]

Τῇ ΙΘʹ τοῦ αὐτοῦ μηνός, μνήμη τοῦ Ὁσίου Πατρὸς ἡμῶν Μακαρίου τοῦ Αἰγυπτίου, καὶ ἀναχωρητοῦ· καὶ τοῦ Ὁσίου Μακαρίου τοῦ Ἀλεξανδρέως.	On January 19, we commemorate our devout father Makarios of Egypt the anchorite, and also devout saint Makarios of Alexandria.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ, μνήμη τῆς Ἁγίας Μάρτυρος Εὐφρασίας.	On this day we also commemorate the holy Martyr Efrasia.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ, ἡ εἰς τὸν Ναὸν τῶν Ἁγίων Ἀποστόλων Ἀνακομιδὴ τοῦ Λειψάνου τοῦ ἐν Ἁγίοις Πατρὸς ἡμῶν Γρηγορίου τοῦ Θεολόγου.	On this day was the transfer of the relic of our father among the saints Gregory the Theologian to the Church of the Holy Apostles in Constantinople.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ, τελεῖται ἡ ἀνάμνησις τοῦ ἐν Νικαίᾳ μεγίστου θαύματος, ὅτε ὁ Μέγας Βασίλειος διὰ προσευχῆς ἀνέῳξε τὰς πύλας τῆς Καθολικῆς Ἐκκλησίας, καὶ παρέθετο αὐτὴν τοῖς Ὀρθοδόξοις.	On this day is the commemoration of the great miracle in Nicea, when St. Basil the Great by prayers opened the doors of the Catholic Church and gave it to the Orthodox.

Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ, μνήνη τοῦ Ὁσίου Πατρὸς ἡμῶν Μελετίου τοῦ Γαλησιώτου τοῦ Ὁμολογητοῦ, διαλάμψαντος ἐν ἔτει ͵ασνʹ (1250).	On this day we also commemorate our devout father Meletios the Confessor of Mt. Galesion, who lived in the 13th century.

On this day we also commemorate our father among the saints Mark Evgenikos, Bishop of Ephesus, who single-handedly fought for, championed, and defended Orthodoxy.
