O Christ God, who for me endured being nailed to the Cross, accept my vigilant praise, and save me, in Your benevolence for humanity. [SD]

Verse: Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at the footstool of His feet; for He is holy.

O Christ God, the commander of the bodiless hosts, You know the laziness of my soul. By Your Cross, save me, for You are benevolent. [SD]

You cured the damages of Adam, by the tree of Your Cross. We pray You cure our hearts that are shattered, and save us, O Lord. [GOASD]

O Saints, we pray you to intercede for us, that we be granted forgiveness for our offenses, and that we be delivered form impending evils and from bitter death. [SD]

Ἐπεφάνης σήμερον.

In the house of abstinence * the Lord has truly * placed you as shining star * that never wavers from its course * and to the Light guides the universe, * Father of fathers, devout Saint Makarios. [SD]

Oikos.

That lover of the Lord, the glory of monastics, the treasury of miracles, Makarios the great, let us faithfully extol. For by the luster of his struggles he shone like the sun, illumining those in the darkness of passions and sin, and unyieldingly driving out the dark delusion of the demons. Therefore he gushes forth rivers of rich miracles as if from a rational fount, and he strengthens the souls of all who cry out, Father of father, devout Saint Makarios. [SD]

From the Menaion.

On January 19, we commemorate our devout father Makarios of Egypt the anchorite, and also devout saint Makarios of Alexandria.

On this day we also commemorate the holy Martyr Efrasia.

On this day was the transfer of the relic of our father among the saints Gregory the Theologian to the Church of the Holy Apostles in Constantinople.

On this day is the commemoration of the great miracle in Nicea, when St. Basil the Great by prayers opened the doors of the Catholic Church and gave it to the Orthodox.

On this day we also commemorate our father among the saints Arsenios, Archbishop of Kerkyra.

On this day we also commemorate our devout father Meletios the Confessor of Mt. Galesion, who lived in the 13th century.

On this day we also commemorate our father among the saints Mark Evgenikos, Bishop of Ephesus, who single-handedly fought for, championed, and defended Orthodoxy.
