Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, You are magnified exceedingly; You clothe Yourself with thanksgiving and majesty, who cover Yourself with light as with a garment, who stretch out the heavens like a curtain; You are He who covers His upper chambers with water, who makes the clouds His means of approach, who walks on the wings of the winds, who makes His angels spirits and His ministers a flame of fire. He established the earth on its stable foundation; it shall not be moved unto ages of ages. The deep like a garment is His covering; the waters shall stand upon the mountains; at Your rebuke they shall flee; at the sound of Your thunder, they shall be afraid. The mountains rise up, and the plains sink down to the place You founded for them. You set a boundary they shall not pass over; neither shall they return to cover the earth. The sun arises, and they are gathered together; and they shall be put to bed in their dens. Man shall go out to his work and to his labor until evening. O Lord, Your works shall be magnified greatly; You made all things in wisdom; the earth was filled with Your creation. Ἔδωκας σημείωσιν.

If You, O Lord, should mark transgression, O Lord, who would stand? For there is forgiveness with You. [SAAS]

Glorious St. Hermylos and godly-minded Stratonikos * were a duo most marvelous. * Confessing the Trinity to be uncreated, * they were both subjected to many tortures, after which * was polytheism’s error put to flight. * Now wearing crowns of victory they are in heaven and intercede * with the Lord that He grant the world * His great mercy and lasting peace. [SD]

Because of Your law, O Lord, I waited for You; my soul waited for Your word. My soul hopes in the Lord. [SAAS]

Holy Martyr Hermylos, you were ordained by the Spirit’s grace * as a deacon and minster * of the Word. Your sacred blood, spilled when you were tortured, * stained your holy vestments, making them holier indeed * and even brighter and more illustrious. * And now that you have passed to the celestial courts of our King and God, * you most ardently intercede * for the faithful who honor you. Τί ὑμᾶς καλέσωμεν.

For with the Lord there is mercy, and with Him is abundant redemption; and He shall redeem Israel from all his transgressions. [SAAS]

Greatly did you struggle, O holy men. * You courageously endured it when barbarians attacked. * Being slaughtered by their swords you readily gave up your lives. * In heaven, you received the crowns of martyrdom. * With Angels in the heights you dwell now worthily. * You firm endurance was great indeed; * and greater yet are your gifts of grace. * So intercede, we entreat you, that our souls be saved. Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles; praise Him, all you peoples. [SAAS]

Saints of Christ, you labored ascetically, * for you chose to count as nothing fleeting things of earthly life, * ever striving to subordinate the mind set on the flesh. * Then dying by the sword, you went to be with Christ. * With Angels in the heights you dwell now worthily. * As we observe your memorial * each year and solemnly honor you, * we pray that you intercede that our souls be saved. Nature is illumined today. The universe celebrates today, everyone in heaven as well as on earth. Angels and humans are mingling; for wherever the King is, His retinue goes there as well. So let us all run to the Jordan River; and we shall see John there, and witness how he baptizes the Master’s head, which is spiritual and sinless. And now, in the words of the Apostle, let us sing together and cry out: “The grace of God has appeared for the salvation of all men,” enlightening believers and granting them the great mercy. [SD]

O devout Fathers, you led an angelic way of life. Through ascetic labors and self-control, you made your bodies subordinate and subservient to the spirit. Now as you are adorned with twofold crowns, earnestly implore our Savior to save us. [SD]
