God is the Lord, and He revealed Himself to us. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. [SAAS]

Στίχ. αʹ. Ἐξομολογεῖσθε τῷ Κυρίῳ καὶ ἐπικαλεῖσθε τὸ ὄνομα τὸ ἅγιον αὐτοῦ.

Verse 1: Give thanks to the Lord and call upon His holy name.

Στίχ. βʹ. Πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ἐκύκλωσάν με, καὶ τῷ ὀνόματι Κυρίου ἠμυνάμην αὐτούς.

Verse 2: All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I defended myself against them.

Στίχ. γʹ. Παρὰ Κυρίου ἐγένετο αὕτη καὶ ἔστι θαυμαστὴ ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς ἡμῶν.

Verse 3: And this came about from the Lord, and it is wonderful in our eyes.

Ἡ ἀμνάς σου Ἰησοῦ, κράζει μεγάλη τῇ φωνῇ. Σὲ Νυμφίε μου ποθῶ, καὶ σὲ ζητοῦσα ἀθλῶ, καὶ συσταυροῦμαι καὶ συνθάπτομαι τῷ βαπτισμῷ σου· καὶ πάσχω διὰ σέ, ὡς βασιλεύσω σὺν σοί, καὶ θνήσκω ὑπὲρ σοῦ, ἵνα καὶ ζήσω ἐν σοί· ἀλλʼ ὡς θυσίαν ἄμωμον προσδέχου τὴν μετὰ πόθου τυθεῖσάν σοι. Αὐτῆς πρεσβείαις, ὡς ἐλεήμων, σῶσον τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμῶν.

Your maiden Martyr, like a lamb, cries out, "O Jesus, for You, * my pure Bridegroom, I long; and seeking You I compete; * and I am crucified and buried with You in Your baptism. * I suffer for Your sake, that I may reign with You. * I die for You that I may also live in You. * Accept me as an unblemished sacrifice * as I offer myself to You with love." * At her entreaties and intercessions, * save our souls, O Merciful Lord. [SD]

Τῇ ἀνατραφείσῃ ἐν τῷ Ναῷ, εἰς τὰ Ἅγια τῶν Ἁγίων, τῇ περιβεβλημένῃ τὴν πίστιν καὶ τὴν σοφίαν, καὶ τὴν ἄμεμπτον παρθενίαν, ὁ Ἀρχιστράτηγος Γαβριήλ, προσέφερεν οὐρανόθεν, τὸν ἀσπασμὸν καὶ τὸ χαῖρε. Χαῖρε εὐλογημένη, χαῖρε δεδοξασμένη, ὁ Κύριος μετὰ σοῦ.

To you who were raised in the Temple, in the Holy of Holies, and who were clothed in faith and wisdom and measureless virginity, the Supreme Commander Gabriel from heaven brought the salutation, "Rejoice"; "Rejoice, O blessed Maiden! Rejoice, O glorified one! The Lord is with you." [SD]

Ἀναγινώσκεται τὸ οἰκεῖον Κάθισμα τοῦ Ψαλτηρίου, ἤτοι Κάθισμα 4. Μεθʼ ὃ ἡ μικρὰ Συναπτή.

The appointed Kathisma of the Psalter may be read, i.e. Kathisma 4. Then the short litany.

Τῆς παναγίας, ἀχράντου, ὑπερευλογημένης, ἐνδόξου, δεσποίνης ἡμῶν Θεοτόκου καὶ ἀειπαρθένου Μαρίας μετὰ πάντων τῶν ἁγίων μνημονεύσαντες, ἑαυτοὺς καὶ ἀλλήλους καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν ζωὴν ἡμῶν Χριστῷ τῷ Θεῷ παραθώμεθα.

Commemorating our most holy, pure, blessed, and glorious Lady, the Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary, with all the saints, let us commend ourselves and one another and our whole life to Christ our God.

I think upon the fearful day and lament my evil acts. ⁄ What answer shall I give to the immortal King? ⁄ And what boldness could I have as prodigal to gaze upon the Judge? ⁄⁄ Compassionate Father, only-begotten Son and Holy Spirit, have mercy on me! [OCA]

Στίχ. Κύριε, μὴ τῷ θυμῷ σου ἐλέγξῃς με, μηδὲ τῇ ὀργῇ σου παιδεύσῃς με.

Verse: O Lord, do not rebuke me in Your wrath, nor chasten me in Your anger.

Εἰς τὴν κοιλάδα τοῦ κλαυθμῶνος, εἰς τὸν τόπον ὃν διέθου, ὅταν καθίσῃς Ἐλεῆμον, κρίσιν δικαίαν ποιῆσαι, μὴ δημοσιεύσῃς μου τὰ κεκρυμμένα, μηδὲ καταισχύνῃς με ἐνώπιον τῶν Ἀγγέλων, ἀλλὰ φεῖσαί μου ὁ Θεός, καὶ ἐλέησόν με.

Have mercy on us, Lord have mercy on us. For with nothing to say in our own defense, we sinners offer this supplication to you our Master. Have mercy on us. [SD]

Ἀρχὴ σωτηρίας ἡ τοῦ Γαβριὴλ προσηγορία, πρὸς τὴν Παρθένον γέγονεν· ἤκουσε γὰρ τὸ Χαῖρε, καὶ οὐκ ἀπέφυγε τὸν ἀσπασμόν, οὐκ ἐδίστασεν ὡς ἡ Σάῤῥα ἐν τῇ σκηνῇ, ἀλλʼ οὕτως ἔλεγεν· Ἰδοὺ ἡ δούλη Κυρίου, γένοιτό μοι κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμά σου.

Gabriel's salutation of the Virgin was the beginning of our salvation. For she heard him say, Rejoice, and did not reject the greeting. * She did not hesitate, like Sarah in the tent, but rather this is what she said, * "Behold the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." [SD]

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression. Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me. Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice. Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your guiding Spirit. I will teach transgressors Your ways, and the ungodly shall turn back to You. For if You desired sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with whole burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken and humbled heart God will not despise. Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built; then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings; then shall they offer young bulls on Your altar. Φωτοειδὴς περιστερὰ ἐγνωρίσθης, ἔχουσα πτέρυγας χρυσᾶς, καὶ πρὸς ὕψος, τῶν οὐρανῶν κατέπαυσας Χριστῖνα σεμνή· ὅθεν σου τὴν ἔνδοξον, ἑορτὴν ἐκτελοῦμεν, πίστει προσκυνοῦντές σου, τῶν λειψάνων τὴν θήκην, ἐξ ἧς πηγάζει πᾶσιν ἀληθῶς, ἴαμα θεῖον, ψυχῆς τε καὶ σώματος.

Venerable Christina, ⁄ you appeared like a shining dove ⁄ with a pair of golden wings ⁄ alighting in the highest heavens! ⁄ Therefore we celebrate your glorious feast ⁄ and bow before the place that holds your relics. ⁄⁄ Pray that we may receive grace and healing for body and soul! [OCA]

Τῇ ΚΔʹ τοῦ αὐτοῦ μηνός, μνήμη τῆς Ἁγίας Μεγαλομάρτυρος Χριστίνης.

On July 24, we commemorate the holy Great Martyr Christina.

Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ, οἱ Ἅγιοι Μάρτυρες Καπίτων καὶ Ὑμέναιος ξίφει τελειοῦνται. Καὶ ὀ Ἅγιος Μάρτυς Ἑρμογένης, τοὺς ὀδόντας ἐκριζωθείς, τελειοῦται.

On this day the holy Martyrs Capito and Hymenaeus died by the sword; and the holy Martyr Hermogenes died after his teeth were pulled out.

Ὁ Ἅγιος Νεομάρτυς Θεόφιλος ὁ Ζακύνθιος, ὁ ἐν Χίῳ μαρτυρήσας ἐν ἔτει 1635, πυρὶ τελειοῦται.

The holy Neomartyr Theophilus of Zakynthos, who witnessed on Chios in the year 1635, died by fire.

Ὁ Ἅγιος Νεομάρτυς Ἀθανάσιος ὁ ἀπὸ Κίου, ἐν Κωνσταντινουπόλει μαρτυρήσας ἐν ἔτει 1670, ξίφει τελειοῦται.

The holy Neomartyr Athanasius of Kios, who witnessed in Constantinople in the year 1670, died by the sword.

Ταῖς αὐτῶν ἁγίαις πρεσβείαις, ὁ Θεός, ἐλέησον ἡμᾶς. Ἀμήν.

By their holy intercessions, O God, have mercy on us. Amen.

Αἰνοῦμεν, εὐλογοῦμεν καὶ προσκυνοῦμεν τὸν Κύριον.

We praise and we bless and we worship the Lord.

Ἑπταπλασίως κάμινον, τῶν Χαλδαίων ὁ τύραννος, τοῖς θεοσεβέσιν, ἐμμανῶς ἐξέκαυσε· δυνάμει δὲ κρείττονι, περισωθέντας τούτους ἰδών, τὸν Δημιουργόν, καὶ Λυτρωτὴν ἀνεβόα, οἱ παῖδες εὐλογεῖτε, ἱερεῖς ἀνυμνεῖτε, λαὸς ὑπερυψοῦτε, εἰς πάντας τοὺς αἰῶνας.

The tyrant king of Babylon * had the furnace made seven times * hotter for the godly men, for he was furious. * But after he witnessed how * a higher power rescued them, * he cried out and said, "You Servants, bless the Creator; * sing hymns to the Redeemer, O you priests; and you people * exalt Him beyond measure, unto all the ages." [SD]

Στίχ. Μεγαλύνει ἡ ψυχή μου τὸν Κύριον, καὶ ἠγαλλίασε τὸ πνεῦμά μου ἐπὶ τῷ Θεῷ τῷ σωτῆρί μου.

Verse: My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. [NKJV]

Τὴν τιμιωτέραν τῶν Χερουβείμ, καὶ ἐνδοξοτέραν, ἀσυγκρίτως τῶν Σεραφείμ, τὴν ἀδιαφθόρως, Θεὸν Λόγον τεκοῦσαν, τὴν ὄντως Θεοτόκον, σὲ μεγαλύνομεν.

Greater in honor than the Cherubim, and in glory greater beyond compare than the Seraphim; you without corruption gave birth to God the Word, and are truly Theotokos. You do we magnify. [SD]

Στίχ. Ὅτι ἐπέβλεψεν ἐπὶ τὴν ταπείνωσιν τῆς δούλης αὐτοῦ· ἰδού γάρ, ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν μακαριοῦσί με πᾶσαι αἱ γενεαί.

Verse: For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; for behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. [NKJV]

Young men and maidens, elders with younger, let them praise the Lord's name, for His name alone is exalted.

His thanksgiving is in earth and heaven. And He shall exalt the horn of His people.

Angels admired her struggles, saying "The enemy has fallen, defeated by a woman; the Martyr is proven a crowned victor, and Christ reigns to the ages as God, who grants His great mercy to the world." Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will to men. We praise you, we bless you, we worship you, we glorify you, and we thank you, for your great glory. Lord, King, Heavenly God, Father Almighty; only-begotten Son, Lord Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit. Lord God, the Lamb of God, the Son of the Father, who take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us, you who take away the sins of the world. Accept our supplication, you who sit at the right of the Father, and have mercy on us. For you are the only Holy One, you are the only Lord, Jesus Christ, to the glory of God the Father. Amen. Every day I shall bless you, and I shall praise your name forever, and unto the ages of ages. Lord, you have become for us a refuge from generation to generation. And let us ask for a Christian end to our life, peaceful, without shame and suffering, and for a good defense before the awesome judgment seat of Christ.

Commemorating our most holy, pure, blessed, and glorious Lady, the Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary, with all the saints, let us commend ourselves and one another and our whole life to Christ our God.

O Holy Lord, Who dwell on high and look upon the humble, and Who with Your all-seeing eye do behold all creation: to You have we bowed the neck of our soul and body, and we implore You, O Holy of Holies, stretch forth Your invisible hand from Your holy dwelling place and bless us all. And if in any way we have sinned, either willingly or unwillingly, pardon us, inasmuch as You are good, and You love mankind, granting us Your good things in this age and in the age to come.

May Christ our true God, through the intercessions of His all-pure and all-immaculate holy Mother, the power of the precious and life-giving Cross, the protection of the honorable, bodiless powers of heaven, the supplications of the honorable, glorious prophet and forerunner John the Baptist, of the holy, glorious, and praiseworthy apostles, of the holy, glorious, and triumphant martyrs, of our righteous and God-bearing fathers, (local patron saint); of the holy and righteous ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, and the holy Great Martyr Christina, whose memory we observe, and of all the saints, have mercy on us and save us, for He is good and merciful and loves mankind.
