Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, You are magnified exceedingly; You clothe Yourself with thanksgiving and majesty, who cover Yourself with light as with a garment, who stretch out the heavens like a curtain; You are He who covers His upper chambers with water, who makes the clouds His means of approach, who walks on the wings of the winds, who makes His angels spirits and His ministers a flame of fire. He established the earth on its stable foundation; it shall not be moved unto ages of ages. The deep like a garment is His covering; the waters shall stand upon the mountains; at Your rebuke they shall flee; at the sound of Your thunder, they shall be afraid. The mountains rise up, and the plains sink down to the place You founded for them. You set a boundary they shall not pass over; neither shall they return to cover the earth. Before Your Passion and holy crucifixion, * You went up Mt. Tabor, and You brought along the three * holy Disciples whom you had picked, wishing to show them * the divine glory, O Master, that is Yours. * And indeed they witnessed You transfigured, and they saw * that You were shining more brightly than the sun; and then they * fell on their faces and they were filled with awe * at Your dominion; and they cried aloud, * “Although willingly seen in the flesh, O Christ, * You are still, without changing, the Father’s brightness and timeless light.” [SD]

Martyr St. Dometius, when you forsook all the magic * spells and the impurities, * and the Persian rituals, and most foul tricks, * you ran to the one true God, who most wisely governs * with His providence the universe. * And in His holy name, you, like an Apostle, began to cure * the beasts afflicted by disease * and people afflicted by illnesses, * when they came with fervor to you, O faithful servant of the Lord. * And now with confidence pray to Christ the Savior on our behalf. Prefiguring Your Resurrection, O Christ God, You took Your three Disciples with You, Peter, James, and John, and You went up Mount Tabor. As You were transfigured, O Savior, Mount Tabor was covered in light. O Logos, Your Disciples threw themselves to the ground, unable to look at the form which no one can see. Angels served with fear and trembling, the heavens were in awe, and the earth shuddered; for they saw here on earth the Lord of glory. [SD]

On Mount Tabor today * did Moses and Elijah * see God, who was incarnate * of the all-holy Virgin to free and save humanity. [SD]

Most-holy Theotokos, save us.

Relentless onslaughts of distressing troubles now disquiet my humble soul. * And the gloomy clouds of tribulation shroud my heart. * But since you are, O Bride of God, * Theotokos and Mother * of the divine pre-eternal Light, * shine on me the light that is full of joy. [SD]
