To you who were raised in the Temple, in the Holy of Holies, and who were clothed in faith and wisdom and measureless virginity, the Supreme Commander Gabriel from heaven brought the salutation, "Rejoice"; "Rejoice, O blessed Maiden! Rejoice, O glorified one! The Lord is with you." [SD]

Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ μνήμη τοῦ ἁγίου Μάρτυρος Ἀκακίου τοῦ νέου.	Today, we also commemorate the holy Martyr Akakius the New.
Τῇ αὐτῇ ἡμέρᾳ μνήμη τῶν ἁγίων Ἀποστόλων Πέτρου καὶ Παύλου, καὶ τῶν ἁγίων Μαρτύρων Διομήδους καὶ Λαυρεντίου, καὶ τῶν Ἁγίων μʹ. Τελεῖται δὲ ἡ αὐτῶν σύναξις ἐν τῷ νέῳ Παλατίῳ. The tyrant king of Babylon * had the furnace made seven times * hotter for the godly men, for he was furious. * But after he witnessed how * a higher power rescued them, * he cried out and said, "You Servants, bless the Creator; * sing hymns to the Redeemer, O you priests; and you people * exalt Him beyond measure, unto all the ages." Ἔφριξε πᾶσα ἀκοή, τὴν ἀπόῤῥητον Θεοῦ συγκατάβασιν, ὅπως ὁ Ὕψιστος, ἑκὼν κατῆλθεν μέχρι καὶ σώματος, Παρθενικῆς ἀπὸ γαστρός, γενόμενος ἄνθρωπος· διὸ τὴν ἄχραντον, Θεοτόκον οἱ πιστοὶ μεγαλύνομεν.	All hearers shuddered when they heard * the unheard-of condescension of God to us: * that voluntarily * the Most High came down, and even bodily, * and from a Virgin's womb was born, * becoming a man from her. * Hence, the immaculate * Theotokos we believers now magnify. May Christ our true God, through the intercessions of His all-pure and all-immaculate holy Mother, the power of the precious and life-giving Cross, the protection of the honorable, bodiless powers of heaven, the supplications of the honorable, glorious prophet and forerunner John the Baptist, of the holy, glorious, and praiseworthy apostles, of the holy, glorious, and triumphant martyrs, of our righteous and God-bearing fathers, (local patron saint); of the holy and righteous ancestors of God Joachim and Anna, and of all the saints, have mercy on us and save us, for He is good and merciful and loves mankind.
