"Why do you mingle the ointments with your tears full of pity, O women disciples?" Thus the Angel who was shining in the tomb cried to the myrrh-bearing women. "See for yourselves the empty tomb and understand, that the Savior has risen from the sepulcher." |

Very early in the morning, the myrrh-bearing women were hastening to Your tomb lamenting. But the Angel appeared to them and uttered, "The time for lamentation has ended; weep no more. Go announce the Resurrection to the Apostles." |
Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes. |

You rose from the tomb in glory as God, and You raised the world along with You. The human race extolled You as God, as death was obliterated, O Master. Now Adam dances, and Eve rejoices, freed from the bonds, and cries out, "O Christ, You have granted resurrection to all!" [GOASD] |

Let us extol, as omnipotent God, the One who rose on the third day; for He smashed the gates of Hades, and He raised from their graves the dead from all time. As He wished He was seen by the Myrrh-bearing Women, to whom first He exclaimed, "Rejoice!" thus saying declaring to His Apostles the joy, as the only Giver of Life. Then the women in good faith bring good news of the proof of the victory to the Disciples. But Hades groans, and Death laments. The world exults, and everyone celebrates, O Christ, for You have granted resurrection to all! [GOASD] |

The rod of Aaron is seen as typifying the mystery; * for it budded, and thus was the priest selected. * Now in the Church, that was barren once, the Cross of Christ, like a tree, * has blossomed forth, * as power and a firm support. [SD] |
Ode iv. |

Tree of the Cross, you are thrice-blessed, * for Jesus Christ, who is King and Lord, was crucified on you. * Through you fallen is the one who by a tree deceived us, * for he was lured by God who in the flesh indeed * was hung and nailed to you, * and who grants to our souls His peace. [SD] |
Ode vi. |
In the belly of the sea beast * the prophet Jonah prayed with his arms extended crosswise; * thus he clearly prefigured the saving Passion of Christ. * When after three days he emerged, * he was depicting the supernal resurrection from the dead * of Christ God, who was physically nailed to the Cross * and by His third-day arising illumined the universe. [SD] |
Ode vii. |
The impious tyrant's preposterous decree disturbed the populace, * breathing threats and blasphemous pronouncements hateful to God. * His brutal anger did not intimidate * the three Servants, nor did the consuming fire. * But when the dew-laden breeze whistled against the fire, they joined it and together sang, * "Blessed are You, O Lord. You are highly praised, O God, the God of our fathers." [SD] |
Ode viii. |
We praise and we bless and we worship the Lord. |
You three pious Servants, * same in number as the Trinity, * bless God the Father, Maker of all; * sing a hymn to the Word who condescended * and who changed the fire in the furnace into dew; * as for the all-holy Spirit, who gives life to all, exalt It * beyond measure unto the ages. [SD] |

John. 21:1-14 |
At that time, Jesus revealed Himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias; and He revealed Himself in this way. Simon Peter, Thomas, called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together. Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We will go with you." They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the beach, yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any fish?" They answered him, "No." He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, for the quantity of fish. That disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his clothes, for he was stripped for work, and sprang into the sea. But the other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, but about a hundred yards off. When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire there with fish lying on it, and bread. Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish that you have just caught." So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, a hundred and fifty-three of them; and although there were so many, the net was not torn. Jesus said to them, "Come and have breakfast." Now none of the disciples dared ask Him, "Who are you?" They knew it was the Lord. Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish. This was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after He was raised from the dead. [RSV] |

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression. |
Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin. |
For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me. |
Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. |
For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. |
Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. |
You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. |
You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice. |
Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions. |
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. |
Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. |
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your guiding Spirit. |
I will teach transgressors Your ways, and the ungodly shall turn back to You. |
Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall greatly rejoice in Your righteousness. |
O Lord, You shall open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise. |
For if You desired sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with whole burnt offerings. |
A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken and humbled heart God will not despise. |
Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built. |
Then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings. |
Then shall they offer young bulls on Your altar. And have mercy on me, O God. [SAAS] |

Let Israel be glad in Him who made him, and let the children of Zion greatly rejoice in their King. |
Let them praise His name with dance; with tambourine and harp let them sing to Him. |
For the Lord is pleased with His people, and He shall exalt the gentle with salvation. |
The holy ones shall boast in glory, and they shall greatly rejoice on their beds. |
The high praise of God shall be in their mouth and a two-edged sword in their hand. |
To deal retribution to the nations, reproving among the peoples. |
To shackle their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron. |

We glorify Your divine condescension, and we extol You, O Christ. From the Virgin You were born, and from the Father You remained inseparable. As a man You suffered and voluntarily endured the Cross. As one emerging from a bridal chamber, You rose from the sepulcher, in order to save the world. Glory to You, O Lord! [GOASD] |

Praise Him with timbrel and dance; praise Him with strings and flute. [SAAS] |
Before Your Passion and holy crucifixion, * You went up Mt. Tabor, and You brought along the three * holy Disciples whom you had picked, wishing to show them * the divine glory, O Master, that is Yours. * And indeed they witnessed You transfigured, and they saw * that You were shining more brightly than the sun; and then they * fell on their faces and they were filled with awe * at Your dominion; and they cried aloud, * "Although willingly seen in the flesh, O Christ, * You are still, without changing, the Father's brightness and timeless light." [SD] |
Praise Him with resounding cymbals; praise Him with triumphant cymbals; let everything that breathes praise the Lord. [SAAS] |

Verse: The heavens belong to You, and the earth is Yours. [SAAS] |
O God the Word, who exist before the ages, * who cover yourself with light as with a garment, O Lord, * with Your Disciples as witnesses You were transfigured, * O Logos, shining more brightly than the sun. * Moses and Elias stood by You betokening * that You are truly the Lord of both the dead and living; * and they gave glory to Your ineffable * plan of salvation by becoming man, * whereby You in Your mercy have saved the world, * in Your great condescension, * for it was perishing because of sin. [SD] |
Verse: Tabor and Hermon shall greatly rejoice in Your name. [SAAS] |
When Your Disciples were with You on Mt. Tabor, * the voice of the Father called You His beloved Son, * thereby acknowledging that You are the same in essence * and share the throne, and in You He is well pleased. * The Virgin from whom You were incarnate was the cloud * the Prophet called swift and light. And now, being transfigured, * a cloud of light has encompassed You, O Lord. * O Benefactor, very merciful, * in amazement and not knowing what to say, * Peter said to You, Jesus, "It is well that we are here, O Lord." [SD] |

Mode pl. 4. |
Christ took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. Then a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to Him!" [SD] |
Both now. Theotokion. |
You are supremely blessed, O Virgin Theotokos. For through Him who from you became incarnate, Hades has been captured, and Adam has been called back; the curse has been killed, and Eve has been freed; death has been put to death, and we have been brought back to life. Therefore we extol Him and cry out, "O Christ our God, You are blessed, for so was Your good pleasure. Glory to You!" [GOASD] |
