Kathisma I.

From Octoechos - - -

For the Apostles.

Grave Mode.

O Lord, You showed Your Apostles to be husbandmen of Your field, who weeded out the idols. Therefore they preached to the Gentiles that You are the Savior, and they magnified You with correct belief. [SD]

Verse: Their proclamation went forth into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.

O all-lauded Disciples of the Lord, as firebrands you enlightened the entire globe. I who am in the darkness of passions and transgressions pray you intercede with Him, that I too be enlightened. [GOASD]

Glory. Both now. Theotokion.

O immaculate Maiden, the fruit of your womb is the fulfillment of the Prophets and the Law. Therefore, O Theotokos, with understanding, we glorify and magnify you piously. [SD]

Kathisma II.

For the Apostles.

Grave Mode.

You are luminaries of the world, O Apostles of the Lord. You continually shine forth the word to the faithful, and you mightily drive away the mist of deceptive error. And you illumine the nations through baptism, as you are the ever-venerable heralds of the Trinity. [GOASD]

Verse: The heavens declare the glory of God; the firmament shows the creation of His hands.

The Prophets proclaimed it beforehand, and the Apostles taught it; the Martyrs confessed it, and we have believed it: that You, O Christ, are the Son of God and the Redeemer of the world. [GOASD]

Glory. Both now. Theotokion.

O Virgin, the eyewitnesses of grace proclaimed that you were heaven on earth; for in your womb you held our heavenly God, who made heavenly the nature He assumed. [GOASD]

Kathisma III. For the Apostle.

From Menaion - - -

Mode pl. 1. N/M (Let us worship the Word.)

Let us praise in hymns the memory of the apostle and disciple of Christ! ⁄ In a godly manner he touched the print of the nails, ⁄ seeking out the true faith! ⁄ He has steadied our thoughts in this world! ⁄⁄ He intercedes with the Savior that our souls may find mercy. [OCA]

Glory. Both now. Theotokion.

Mode pl. 1. Let us worship the Word.

We implore you, O Virgin, to pray to God the Lord, * who from you was incarnate for us who have become * corrupted in our many sins, that He have mercy on us, * and that He turn away His anger and wrath from us who pray * to you with faith, gracious Lady, * and never cease to extol you * and your grace's magnificence. [GOASD]

READER

Psalm 50 (51).

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression. Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me. Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice. Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your guiding Spirit. I will teach transgressors Your ways, and the ungodly shall turn back to You. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall greatly rejoice in Your righteousness. O Lord, You shall open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise. For if You desired sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with whole burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken and humbled heart God will not despise. Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built; then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings; then shall they offer young bulls on Your altar. [SAAS]

Mode 4. N/M (You appeared.)

Thomas, the faithful servant and disciple of Christ, ⁄ filled with divine grace, cried out from the depth of his love: ⁄⁄ You are my Lord and my God! [OCA]

Oikos.

Peter called out to the divinely eloquent Thomas, the disciple of the Lord and great initiate of the mysteries: We have seen the Lord! His friend said to him, crying out: Unless I see the wounds of His hands, I will not believe! Then the Master of all, in His desire to save all, came as a servant and said to Thomas: Touch My hands and My side and do not be unbelieving, for I am your Lord and God. In repentance he cried out: ⁄⁄ You are my Lord and my God! [OCA]

Praise Him, sun and moon; praise Him, all you stars and light.

Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, and you waters above the heavens. Let them praise the Lord's name.

For He spoke, and they were made; He commanded, and they were created.

He established them forever and unto ages of ages; He set forth His ordinance, and it shall not pass away.

Praise the Lord from the earth, you dragons and all the deeps.

Fire and hail, snow and ice, stormy wind, which perform His word.

Mountains and all the hills, fruitful trees and all cedars.

Wild animals and all cattle, creeping things and flying birds.

Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all judges of the earth.

Young men and maidens, elders with younger, let them praise the Lord's name, for His name alone is exalted.

His thanksgiving is in earth and heaven. And He shall exalt the horn of His people.

A hymn for all His saints, for the children of Israel, a people who draw near to Him.

Sing to the Lord a new song, His praise in the assembly of His holy ones.

Let Israel be glad in Him who made him, and let the children of Zion greatly rejoice in their King.

Let them praise His name with dance; with tambourine and harp let them sing to Him.

For the Lord is pleased with His people, and He shall exalt the gentle with salvation.

The holy ones shall boast in glory, and they shall greatly rejoice on their beds.

The high praise of God shall be in their mouth and a two-edged sword in their hand.

Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to the abundance of His greatness. [SAAS]

You followed Christ, O Apostle Thomas, and you disregarded the world; you hid His teachings in your inner room, and you became an Apostle. Praise Him with the sound of trumpet; praise Him with the harp and lyre. [SAAS]

You followed Christ, O Apostle Thomas, and you disregarded the world; you hid His teachings in your inner room, and you became an Apostle. Idiomelon. Mode 4.

Praise Him with timbrel and dance; praise Him with strings and flute. [SAAS]

Fully illumined by the divine fire of the knowledge of God, you imitated the Master in all things, as a lawful disciple, O Apostle Thomas. Using the fishing rod of the Cross, you pulled the souls of the pious out of the deep sea of ignorance. And with the fishing net of the Holy Spirit, you caught the minds of those in India that were in darkness. We pray you ever implore Christ God, also to deliver us from the bedarkened face of the enemy, and to save our souls. [SD]

Idiomelon. Mode 4.

Praise Him with resounding cymbals; praise Him with triumphant cymbals; let everything that breathes praise the Lord. [SAAS]

You abandoned fishing in the sea, and instead by faith you took up the fishing rod of the Cross, and you used it to catch everyone, O Apostle Thomas. Therefore you were counted worthy to touch the immaculate side of the Logos with your hand, and to examine with your finger the wounds of the nails that had pierced Him. We pray you ever earnestly intercede with Christ God to save our souls. [SD]

Mode pl. 2.

You witnessed divine mysteries, O Apostle Thomas, and mystically you became the spiritual wine bowl of the wisdom of Christ, by which the souls of believers are gladdened. With the divine net of the Spirit, you pulled people up from the depths of despair. You came forth from Zion like a river of grace, pouring out your inspired teachings to all of creation. Then you imitated the Passion of Christ, and you were pierced in the side. Now that you have entered the divine darkness of incorruption, implore Him to have mercy on our souls. [GOASD]
